HOLLYMAN BIRTHS 1838 Mar
Rhidian Owain [MORGAN]
FC handed me this information in a bound folder when I visited him in Bristol.
FC states that the registration district of Pontypridd covers the parishes of Llanwanno, Miskin and Mountain Ash.
FC additionally records the following births:
1952 Mar, Cardiff, Carolyne HOLLOMAN [CUMMINGS]
1952 Sep, Cardiff, Avis M HOLLOMAN [PATTERSON]
FC was solely researching the HOLLYMAN name; so he crossed them out.
GRO registration for England and Wales began on 1 July 1837, and before that the records were kept in churches.
The alphabetical lists of bmd’s called “indexes” are drawn up every quarter of the year, and copies of “certificates” can be purchased for a reasonable fee.
To locate a certificate one must provide the GRO with an “index entry” which is listed against each relevant item.
Unfortunately FC did not include index entries in this work.
