Hyundai Motor Unveils All-New ix35 at Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition
Exclusive for China, ix35 promises confident style, spacious interior and reasonable price
New Sonata shown for first time to Chinese market revealing dramatic enhancements
April 19, 2017 – Hyundai Motor has displayed its all-new ix35 at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition 2017, revealing the new SUV – produced exclusively for the Chinese market – which goes on sale at the end of this year.
Designed specifically for the world’s largest vehicle market, the all-new ix35 will offer buyers a family-focused vehicle that boasts a roomy interior, stylish design and a reasonable price. The SUV joins the company’s range of popular SUV models, including ix25, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Grand Santa Fe.
As part of a 19-model display at the Shanghai show, the practical yet sophisticated ix35 will make a striking centerpiece with its robust and sporty styling. Its appearance is characterized by the confident front end, emphasized by high-tech headlamps either side of the brand’s distinctive cascading grille.
The car’s 4,435mm long body uses straight lines along with the upright windscreen and rear window to demonstrate its roomy nature, while width (1,850mm) is accentuated by its wheel arches and character lines around the fender. The ix35’s futuristic feel continues to the rear where the horizontal arrangement of the rear combination lamps completes the confident look.
The Hyundai Motor booth at the Shanghai show is themed under the slogan ‘Partner for Better Life’ with zones for ‘Future Mobility’, ‘High Performance’, and ‘New Technology’. Sharing the limelight with the all-new ix35 is the New Sonata, which makes its Chinese debut at the show.
The new Sonata builds on the success of previous generations of the car while introducing several dramatic design changes that are aligned with Hyundai’s evolving design philosophy. This progressive appearance results in a bolder, more sophisticated exterior, with precise lines and distinctive styling cues that reflect Hyundai Motor’s latest design language.
At the front of the sedan, the new grille combines with the narrower headlights, which are engulfed by the sculpted hood, for a sportier and more purposeful appearance. From the side, designers have created a more dynamic attitude by enlarging the trunk lid to counterbalance the lower, wider front radiator grill, making the hood appear longer and sleeker.
The large Sonata logo added to the center of the trunk lid projects visual self-confidence, while other fine details such as new distinctive taillight graphics and dramatic illumination add interest to the rear.
Further design enhancements have been made for the gasoline 2.0 Turbo model. The front receives a sporty mesh radiator grille that is augmented by black bezel headlamps, black DRL surrounds, black lower front bumper and black side mirror casings. Also, the driving experience is enhanced further through the addition of an eight-speed automatic transmission to the 2.0T model.
The all-new ix35 and the New Sonata will be on display at Exhibition Hall 4-1 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.
