OK, there was a Burn MASON and a Burn JENNINGS, but most likely Burnside or “Burn” YOAKUM was the one with the most interesting history, short though it may be.
Burnside YOAKUM, son of Robert Grant YOAKUM, Jr. and Lucinda JENNINGS, grandson of Robert Grant YOAKUM Sr. and Parkey BERRY.. Burnside YOAKUM was born 27 May 1866 in Claiborne County, Tennessee, and died 18 Nov 1889 in Claiborne County, Tennessee. He married Mollie E. PAYNE born 1867, Springdale, daughter of Anderson PAYNE and Elizabeth DAY. Burnside Yoakum died a few years after he married Mollie PAYNE on January 14, 1886. He died at the age of 23 in November 18, 1889. Circumstances of his death are still vague. He and Mollie left one little daughter Eva who married Owen CURRIER. Eva YOAKUM and Owen CURRIER had a daughter Mary who married Russell ALLEN.

Burnside Yoakum, second son of Robert and Lucinda Yoakum, married Miss Payne, a daughter of Anderson Payne of Lone Mountain. He lived a few years and died, leaving his widow in care of one little daughter. She is a very sprightly little girl of about five years of age.
Mollie Payne Yoakum remarried William Hugh HODGES, son of William B.HODGES and Lucy Ann SHUMATE, Hugh was born 1865 in Claiborne Co., TN, died 1929. The couple had two children, Robert L. HODGES and Mattie HODGES.
