Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Business Ethics
Artificial Intelligence has now become a buzzword in today’s business world. Companies now want to adopt them to remain ahead of the game, rather than because they need them to benefit their business. The rise of AI brings about considerations including the extent of control organisations retain on decision-making processes of their machines. The focus is also on how to ensure that the systems of AI being adopted, always act in a line that coincides with the core values of the organisation.
With the rise of AI, organisations focus on measuring potential impacts that an upcoming technology can have, to identify undesirable and consequent ethical risks. Such tests and procedures help in identifying the implications of various aspects of business. Many of the AI control and testing procedures now include:

(i) Bias detection and correction

(ii) Risk assessment and impact analysis

(iii) Cybersecurity and controls such as access control

(iv) Involvement of the ethics team to keep a check that AI systems are in line with values of organisation

(v) Involvement of legal and compliance teams for data protection and privacy compliance

In the course of recent years, the concerns regarding corporate acts of business morals have developed. To some AI researchers, it still seems far too early for ethics and AI to be employed in the identical sentence. However, today some members of the AI research community believe that new concerns such as AI bias (by race, gender, or other criteria), personal privacy, and algorithmic transparency seem to be the more pressing problems with the day.
Few of the values that get formed or impacted, either positively or negatively, due to involvement of AI in business are:

  1. Fairness and justice

When dealing with AI, fairness and justice, remain paramount for ethical businesses. Organisations consider wider impact of AI developments to ensure fairness to all stakeholders and at large, to a society. The issues such as social inequality and bias are being tried to be reduced since technology will, of course, not shape future in isolation.

  1. Transparency and openness

Traditionally, many organisations that developed algorithms as underlying source codes did not allow public scrutiny. Opening such sourcing material is an important step in computer science, when appropriate.

Major tech companies have opened technologies, for example:

- Google’s open-sourced TensorFlow, the heart of its image search technology, in 2015.

- Facebook open-sourced the custom hardware designs of its virtual assistant in 2015.

  1. Accountability

Accountability is at the core in the definition of good practice in corporate governance. It suggests that there must be a line of responsibility for business actions to determine who should be accountable for the consequences. Machines are not moral agents, and thus, they cannot be held responsible for consequences. So, a valuable approach that organisations adopt is that they behave as if they, themselves, were ultimately responsible.

  1. Accuracy of information

Fake news added to accurate and fact-based news is considered as the biggest threat to democracy. Much of this false information influences a higher cognitive process. For example, an incredibly realistic fake video of President Obama was created using computer vision technology.

A recent study stated that fake news and knowledge spread almost 70% faster than fact-based news. Keeping in mind that the most significant motive for fake news is to influence decisions, organisations are faced with the question of a way to differentiate fake news from actual information effectively.

  1. Respect for privacy

The availability of surveillance cameras everywhere has made issues concerning observation and investigation. Prior to the creation of facial acknowledgment, even ubiquitous cameras gave fairly a protection just because it was unrealistic to assess the whole film gathered. Presently, it is not just conceivable to keep an eye on open spots day in and day out, it is likewise conceivable to follow and find people dependent on their movement design as large measures of information can be extricated in less time.

Expanded wellbeing and the decrease of theft and crime percentages in an organisation are the best justifiers for the utilization of this innovation.
