PURPOSE
This document details how to setup your @cqnursemail.com.au account on Android devices running ICS 4.0 or Android 2.2 / 2.3 so you can send and receive CQ Nurse-related emails directly on your device. (Provided you have a data plan and can connect to the Internet from your Android device). Please see below for instructions for earlier Android OS.

This tutorial applies to all Nurses who own an Android device, who wish to setup their CQNursemail account on their smartphone.

DEFINITIONS
POP: POP is an email account type we will be using to download email from the cqnursemail.com.au server.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
Incoming Mail Server:
This is where the email comes from: mail.cqnursemail.com.au
Outgoing Mail Server:
Your service provider’s Outgoing mail server. Your phone uses this to SEND emails out from your phone.
I.E. If you have a Telstra mobile account, the Outgoing mail server might be mail.bigpond.com. Vodafone’s might be smtp.vodafone.net.au and so on. When you get to Step 16. Please Note: These instructions are based on Samsung Galaxy S2 running ICS 4.0. Your device may have a slightly different operating system and the menu options and process for setting up an email account may be somewhat different on your device. However, the key points that will always be important to know are the Incoming mail server, Outgoing mail server, and your @cqnursemail.com.au email address and password. For earlier devices, please see the instructions for How to setup Nursemail account on an earlier Android device I.E. 2.2, 2.3

WARNING: Please ensure that you are always aware of when Internet and Mobile/Background/Account sync data services are enabled on your device, so that your device doesn’t use data or GPS services without your knowledge, as it can cost a lot of money if you’re not on a data plan, if your device uses communication services or GPS without your knowledge.
How to setup Nursemail account on an Android device running ICS 4.0
Before you setup your email account, you first you need to turn on Internet and Accounts sync on your device. (If you already know how to do this, skip to Step 1. Below) Otherwise, follow these steps:
Click the Applications button > click Settings > Under Wireless and network heading, click More... > click Mobile networks > Turn on "Use packet data" > click OK > Click the Home button >
Next > click the Applications button > click Settings > click Accounts & sync > Make sure that “On” is selected and green, at the top of the screen next to the “Accounts and sync" heading.
Now that we have an Internet connection and Accounts & sync data is turned on, we can go ahead and setup the email account:
Now we setup the email account (for Android ICS 4.0)

Press the Applications button on your home screen

Press the Email button (Note: If you already have an existing email account setup on your device, you may need to complete steps 3-5. If you don’t already have an existing email account setup on your device, you can probably skip to steps 3-5).

Click the bottom left (Hard) menu button

Click the Settings link

Click the Plus image at top of screen

On the Set up email screen, enter your full @cqnursemail.com.au Email address and Password, then click the Done button on your keypad to hide the keyboard.

Click the Next button to proceed.

6. Phone will say "Retrieving account information..."

In Account options screen > Set your Peak schedule and Off-peak schedule to Manual (unless you want emails to download automatically without your interaction).

Select the period you wish to sync your emails. I.E. 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month.

Click the top right arrow to proceed with setup

On the final screen - Type CQnursemail and click the OK button.

Your Inbox should now display with your Nursemail account emails.
Now let’s test it!

To send a test > Click the Compose icon at the top right of the screen. In the To: field, type it@cqnurse.com.au, in the Subject: field, type Android device nursemail setup complete, In the Message: field, type Hello world!

Click the Send icon at the top right of the screen.

Your device will say "Sending message". (When we receive your message we’ll reply so you know your account is working properly ).

Congratulations. You can now send and receive your cqnursemail account emails from your Android device.
How to setup Nursemail account on an earlier Android device I.E. 2.2, 2.3 etc.
Before you setup your email account, you first you need to turn on Internet and Background data on your device. (If you already know how to do this, skip to Step 1. below). Otherwise, follow these steps:
Click the Settings button
Click Wireless & networks
On the Wireless & networks screen, where it says Mobile network, click its checkbox so it has a green tick in the checkbox > then click the (hard) back button.
Click Accounts & sync.
Turn on Background data, so the checkbox has a green tick in it.
Now click the (hard) Home button.
Now that we have an Internet connection and Background data is turned on, we can go ahead and setup the email account:
Now we setup the email account (for Android 2.2 + 2.3)

Now click the (hard) Home button > click the Applications button > click the Mail icon > click the (hard) Menu button > click More... > click New account > click Other (POP3/IMAP) > enter your full @cqnursemail.com.au email address into the Email field (I.E. leroy.brown@cqnursemail.com.au (All lower case), and your cqnursemail password into the Password field (Case sensitive) > click the Next button.

On the Incoming settings screen, under the Protocol heading, select POP > then click Next > Your phone will say “Verifying account information” > then in the Outgoing server settings screen, don’t change anything, and click the Next button > Your phone will say “Verifying account information”

Click the Finish setup button

Your phone will say “The account settings have been saved” > and now your @cqnursemail.com.au Inbox emails should display on your screen.

Congratulations. You can now send and receive your cqnursemail account emails from your Android device.
While you’re still on the last screen, Press the Menu button > click the Compose button > in the To: field, type it@cqnurse.com.au into, in the Subject: field, type Android device nursemail setup complete, In the Message: field, type Hello world! > then click the Menu button, and click the Send button.
When we receive you’re message we’ll reply so you know your account is working properly
