With support of Secretariat Energy Community – Vienna and the Government of Republic of Serbia, PE “Transnafta” celebrates the 5th Anniversary organizing the international conference “The Role of Regional Cooperation – Supporting the investments in Secure Energy Supply o West Balkans/Southeast Europe Region”.

The new policy which in the last decade in European and global energetic field has imposed the secure energy supply as the main goal and the multiplication of energy supply streams, has changed not only the map of Europe but the big part of the globe as well, especially the Southeast Europe and West Balkans region. The conference “The Role of Regional Cooperation – Supporting the investments in Secure Energy Supply of West Balkans/Southeast Europe Region”, has as its aim to bring closer the positions of countries and companies in region, on one hand, and the key factors of the international community, on the other hand, in political, financial and other senses, all for the purpose of strengthening the actual realization of number of regional energy projects. The upcoming decade needs to, unlike the past decade, mark the initiation of number of oil and gas pipelines, so as electric power in the region.

As a reminder, all countries in Southeast Europe, whether members of the European Union or part of the unique energy system, have equal problem (apart from Romania), and that is they all are respectably energy import dependant. The basic message of our conference is to reinforce the support of international organizations in finding ways for full understanding and agreement on new challenges which place sensitive topics of realization before the participants of those projects.

Republic of Serbia and PE “Transnafta” with undivided support of Ministry of mining and energy and with the excellent cooperation with Secretariat Energy Community, EU DG Energy, The Energy Charter Secretariat and Atlantic council, this way wants to sustain cooperation of governments and international institutions in the region identifying necessity of strong bonds, so as faster realization of energy supply projects, with the aim of the solution for hot economy topics in region, as well as to fulfil the expectations of all the people in the region. Those expectations mean changing the present picture featured by slow realization of energy projects in every energy department to the prompt beginning of the construction of energy infrastructure (oil, gas and electric power), which leads to lower energy transport prices and gives immeasurable contribution to environmental protection as additional dimension of social responsibility, and subsequently provides strong guarantee to interested parties to invest in Serbia and countries in the region since with the secure energy supply all the investments will pay off within the time-limits.

Cooperation with the Secretariat Energy Community, so as with other regional institutions and economic collaboration, in upcoming decade needs to be our main fly-wheel for realization of gas pipeline, oil and electric power projects. Adding the potentials in alternative forms of energy, there are good basis for us to believe that the entire region will be significantly developing and positioning on the energy map of Europe and the world in the period ahead of us.

As organizers, we will make sure these kinds of conferences become a tradition, and we expect and believe that the number of panelists on this first conference could give a significant contribution to fundamental objectives of improving energy infrastructure in region.
