If you do, the transcript will not be considered official. You may also request an unofficial copy, which will cost $2.
NEW INFORMATION
If you are anticipating playing sports in college, please note that test scores listed on an official high school transcript will no longer be used for NCAA purposes for 2007 high school graduates and anyone planning to attend an NCAA member institution starting in the 2007-2008 academic year. The NCAA has adopted new legislation that will require prospective student-athletes who are planning on enrolling at Division I or Division II institutions to supply ACT and/or SAT scores to the clearninghouse directly from the testing agencies. For more details, consult the clearinghouse website at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.
HOPE SCHOLARSHIP
There are several steps that you must follow to apply for the HOPE Scholarship. Those steps include the following: (1) the general form to complete is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which becomes available in January 2007 or, if applicable the HOPE Application. These forms are available at all eligible public and private Georgia colleges, public technical colleges, and most high schools. Remember, you must use the FAFSA rather than the HOPE Application or e-HOPE if you are applying for federal student aid, such as the need based Pell Grant, or student loans. Some institutions still may require you to complete a FAFSA form if you are receiving any other scholarships. All HOPE applicants attending private colleges or universities must complete the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Application. Your final un-weighted GPA will determine if you are eligible to receive the HOPE scholarship. The Georgia Student Finance Commission will determine the final list of HOPE eligible applicants. We (HCHS) will no longer submit a list of eligible students; we will have to submit the entire transcript. You can access links on GAcollege411.org to better understand the HOPE changes. In the lower right corner of the GAcollege411 homepage, in the “Latest News and Announcements” section, there is a link titled “Transcript Exchange and HOPE GPA Calculations.” The link will take you to the resource page that has detailed information about the new HOPE GPA calculations.
Athletic Scholarships
If you want to be considered for athletic scholarships, you must be registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse. You may register on-line at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Click on “Prospective Student-Athletes” from the home page, which will link you to the necessary information. Print off both forms and bring one copy to the counseling center.
