CHILDREN’S PROGRAM - 2011-2012 Class Schedules
2011 Summer classes begin the week of July 18 through the week of September 5; Monday classes will not meet on September 5, last class September 12.

2011-2012 Classes begin the week of September 19, 2011 and conclude with the MCPA Spring Gala Production in June 2012.

Creative Movement – 2.5-3.5 year olds


A fun class that will inspire your child’s imagination and creativity; your child will explore movement through music, games, and props. She will learn basic motor skills, including jumping, hopping, and skipping, and work on balance and simple coordination exercises. Proper ballet terminology is introduced whenever appropriate.

45 minute class – one day per week

Summer: Tue 5:00-5:45, Thur 6:15-7:00

Fall: Tue 6:30-7:15, Wed 5:00-5:45, Sat 9:45-10:30


Uniform – Girls wear any leotard, pink tights and proper pink leather ballet shoes. For your convenience, we recommend ordering these items through MCPA to ensure correct style and color. Boys wear comfortable clothing they can move easily in, such as sweatpants/shorts and a t-shirt.

Kinderdance – 4-5.5 year olds

Expanding upon the curriculum of Creative Movement where imagination and creativity is key, your child will continue to be challenged as she/he masters the beginning steps of ballet. They will also continue to fine-tune basic motor skills, including jumping, hopping, skipping, and balancing. Proper ballet terminology is used. Your child will also be thrilled as they are introduced to the basics of tap dance.

60 minute class – one day per week

Summer: Tue 5:45-6:45, Thur 5:15-6:15

Fall: Mon 6:45-7:45, Tue 5:30-6:30, Wed 5:45-6:45, Sat 10:30-11:30


Uniform – Girls wear any leotard, pink tights and proper pink leather ballet shoes, plus black patent leather tap shoes. For your convenience, we recommend ordering these items through MCPA to ensure correct style and color. Boys wear comfortable clothing they can move easily in, such as sweatpants/ shorts, and a t-shirt.
Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo – 6-8 year olds

Your child will learn the fundamentals of Ballet, including proper terminology and classroom etiquette. A jazz warm up is introduced where your child will work on stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as coordination skills. Students also learn tap vocabulary and rhythm patterns. Skills learned in this class help facilitate your child’s transition to the youth program at age 8.



90 minute class - 30 minutes each Ballet/Jazz/Tap – one day per week

Summer: Tue 6:45-8:15

Mon 5:15-6:45, Wed 6:45-8:15, Sat 11:30-1:00


Uniform – same as Kinderdance. Students wear ballet shoes for jazz.

Primary Ballet – 6-8 year olds

Students that want training more than once a week; working towards a stronger technical foundation. Curriculum includes barre and center floor exercises, with the use and understanding of classical ballet terminology. Students will be held to the high standards of ballet etiquette.

Classes meet two days per week:

Summer: Mon 5:45-6:30 and Wed 4:45-5:45

Fall: Tue 5:45-6:30 and Sat 12:30-1:30

Uniform – Girls assigned a leotard color/style in the fall, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back in a neat bun. Boys wear white t-shirt, black bike shorts/sweatpants and black ballet shoes. For your convenience, we recommend ordering shoes and attire through MCPA to ensure correct style and color.
