Development of the activity. Reading comprehension

The teacher will work with students from high school (5^th grade- Private school). There will be 25 students in the class. The Reading activity is aimed to students’ whose level of English is intermediate. The article is taken from Linguapress intermediate English resources.

The text has been chosen since it talks about the story of Coca-Cola which is a relevant topic for students to work with.

1-Pre-Reading Activities

As pre-reading activities I have thought about a matching task which would help students to clarify possible difficult vocabulary which will be later revealed.

The teacher will stick some sheet of papers with words or phrases in two columns. Students will match the words and their possible synonyms using their previous knowledge.

The idea is that students are prepared to what they are going to read. They will check vocabulary in isolation before reading in context. They can use a dictionary if necessary. This activity will help students to read without worrying too much about the words they do not understand.
