Oral Presentation in Turkish National Hepato Gastroenterology Congress, 2013 Personal Statement: My name is Munkhtsetseg Banzragch and currently I am doing fellowship at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division, Internal Medicine Department of Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey. 2011-2014 During my Fellowship education period: I have been doing my research fellowship in this department for three years. Throughout this time, I have been doing outpatient and inpatient cares at the units of Hepatology, General Gastroenterology, Cirrhosis and Transplantation and Endoscopy Unit. I did see around 40 patients in a day in each specific polyclinic respectively. I fulfilled my endoscopy skill-developing education during this period. I did 10-20 endoscopy in a work day, %30 of those was treatment procedure. I did run all kind of urgent and elective diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures for bleeding or obstructions such as esophagus varices band ligation, clips application, argon coagulation, heater probe coagulation, balloon dilatation, stent application for GI tract stenosis and endoscopic polypectomy. I did liver biopsy with ultrasound ones a day weekly. I worked at Endoscopic Retrograde Colangiography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) unit of our department and completed all my education there. In last 2 years as an senior fellow in the department I did 2-5 ERCP procedures in a week, with and under my mentors observation. Because of our hospital was the reference center in the area, most of cases was complicated as recurrent obstruction, malignancy, old age or co-morbid patients. Also I had a chance to do EUS with mentors and I assisted as second endoscopist in EUS procedure for a full day in a week and did 2-3 patients EUS with my mentors. I achieved my skills to do by my own. My special interest is in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation. Our hospital is a reference center for liver transplantation and Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our clinic do all kind of loco-regional therapy for HCC as surgery resection, RFA, TACE and TARE. I have been the only fellow who prepares HCC consultative council once in a two week during last three years in our University, which is a multidisciplinary meeting, Gastroenterology, Medical Oncology, Radiology and Liver Surgery teams are discussing and making decision for all HCC patients. Currently I am carrying out researches in this area with the guidance of my Professors. I newly finished one review related HCC in the Journal Turkish Clinic and also did finished the study with my colleagues related to the Natural Killer cell phenotype changes in chronicle hepatitis B and we presented it at the AASLD 2013 congress. As a doctor from Mongolia, we have many cirrhotic patients. My grandfather himself suffered from cirrhosis, the cause of which could not be explained till his death at the relatively young age of 60. Since then, liver diseases have been my area of special interest. At the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division of Marmara University, I could learn those diseases in detail. I still would like to perform more detailed research in this field. I also accepted in PhD program after successfully passed nationwide exams in 2010 and attended three years course of full-time lessons at Molecular Biology and Genetics, the Institute of Science of Istanbul University, and now I am doing my thesis there. For the thesis, I chose to make research on liver and genetic fields. My genetic PhD thesis is related to the molecular mechanism of hepatocellular carcinoma. I would like to do research on the molecular basis of liver disease which is brought about by both known and unknown reasons. I am also participating in a project, which studies the cognitive impairment levels of patients with elevated liver enzymes of all kinds of liver diseases. 2005-2010 During my residency education period: I worked as an assistant resident doctor at 12 different special divisions of Internal Medicine Department, did rotations 3-12 month periods for each division (Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Blood Aphaeresis, Allergy and Immunology, Cardiology, General Internal Medicine, Geriatric and Gerontology, Clinic Microbiology and Infection Disease, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Thoracic Medicine, Emergency) and was seen 40 out-patient at the Emergency Service on night-shifts, 20 out-patient daily at ambulatory, 10 in- patient daily at special services. 2009-2010 Oversea Coordinator SABİR-KE Union, Istanbul, Turkey: I have organized meetings with doctors and hospital owners, including from private centers, and encouraged them to be volunteer rescue team members. I was the first foreign nationality doctor who involved this rescue team SABIR-KE. I also was writing a corner named ‘To be a earthman for a week in a year’ in SABİR journal which is the first private medical regular journal in Turkey. 2008-2010 Volunteer Consoles Attendant, Mongolian Embassy, Istanbul Bureau, Istanbul, Turkey: İ was provided governmental guests from Mongolia and guided them and translated if they needed at the meetings. 2004 – 2005 Acupuncture and Moxibustion Specialist Orgil Medical Center, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: I examined and treated 10-20 in-patients daily. 2000-2001 Interpreter Ege Saglik Hospital, Izmir, Turkey: I was working on night-shifts and was interpreted 2,3 out-patients who were USA citizens daily at emergency service.
