II. LIBERAL ARTS BIOLOGY; BSC 1005
In 1988, with grant support from the Council For Instruction at Florida State University, I developed a syllabus and lecture materials for a ten lecture unit titled "The Biology of AIDS." The lectures comprise one of four topics of the liberal arts course in biological science (APB 1150; now BSC 1005). The Biology of AIDS unit of BSC 1005 has been taught during nineteen semesters to more than 20,000 undergraduate students at Florida State from 1988 through Fall semester of 1996. The lecture series has also been presented each summer since 1988, as a component of the NSF Young Scholars Program for gifted and talented students of Florida's public and private high schools.
