Chuck Nation Band Bio
The Chuck Nation Band, from Gainesville, GA, near Atlanta, made their Carnegie Hall debut performance in New York City in 2015, and performed at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN in 2016. They were 2016 Georgia Music Awards nominees for artist of the year. Chuck is a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, a two-time Georgia State Fiddle Champion, Georgia State Mandolin Champion, and a Louisiana State Fiddle Champion. They have been called “the South’s best Bluegrass band.” The band made their second international tour in 2014 covering sixteen cities in Ireland.
Close harmony singing and superb instrumental playing are the hallmarks of their distinctive sound. They have performed The High Lonesome Mass in concert 16 times with conductor/composer Dr. Tim Sharp, and have recorded three CD projects: On A High High Mountain, Thinking About Home, and their latest: Beneath The Tennessee Moon.
Chuck Nation (fiddle/mandolin), from Gainesville, GA, has performed across the U.S. and in 17 different countries. In addition to his singing and songwriting skills, Chuck is equally skilled at playing fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and guitar. Chuck has performed at the Grand Old Opry, New Orleans World’s Fair, Savannah Music Festival, Carnegie Hall, Smoke On The Mountain, Always Patsy Cline, and The High Lonesome Mass. He has opened shows for a diverse list of folks ranging from Ernest Tubb to Mother Maybelle Carter, Mac Davis, John Hartford, Charley Pride, John Anderson, and Bill Monroe. He was a member of the historic band from Louisville, Kentucky—The Bluegrass Alliance (whose alumni includes Vince Gill, Sam Bush, & Tony Rice)—which paved the way for the modern “Newgrass” music style. Besides being an in-demand studio musician for others, Chuck has recorded two solo projects: Fiddle Favorites and One Man Band. Chuck is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and has been the pastor of First Baptist Church, Flowery Branch, GA since 1998.
Susan Nation (acoustic bass), is an acclaimed singer and songwriter who has performed Bluegrass, Americana, and Gospel music around the world. Much of the band’s repertoire comes from her published songwriting skills. She founded her own publishing company, Only One Nation Music, and her songs have been recorded by folks such as Gary “Biscuit” Davis, former bandleader for Dolly Parton, and others. Susan’s singing and her solid bass playing skills provide a firm foundation to the band. She is an audience favorite, and along with Chuck has performed at the New Orleans World's Fair, Savannah Music Festival, Carnegie Hall, toured Japan and Ireland, and played in countless churches, conferences, festivals, and shows.
Jody Hughes (guitar/banjo), is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from Canton, GA, who teaches private and online music lessons, and has performed bluegrass, solo jazz guitar, and popular music in various ensembles throughout the Southeast. He has toured with Grammy award winning Jim Lauderdale, performed at the Grand Old Opry, Merlefest, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Jody is a Merlefest Banjo Competition winner, and a three-time winner of the Georgia State Championship on both guitar and banjo.
Libby Nation (mandolin/guitar), sings, writes, and plays many instruments equally well, She has toured professionally as a pianist in Europe, Asia, and the U.S., and has performed at Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Stadium in London, on Late Night with David Letterman, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey’s Oscar party. Libby teaches piano, guitar, and voice to a full schedule of students in Atlanta.
Steve Vincent (drums), is a multi-talented musician who has played with Liberace, Benny Goodman, Boots Randolph, Floyd Cramer, and was a member of the Chattanooga Symphony for 15 years. In addition to performing with the Chuck Nation Band, Steve teaches music, plays drums weekly in the Presbyterian Church, is a first-call drummer in Nashville, and performs with the Georgia Mountain Fair Staff Band.

The audience loved it and roared in approval." - New York Concert Review, Carnegie Hall performance
