21st September 2012 The Crown Estate Tour
Tour A will be the recently completed Quadrant, which is the latest project in The Crown Estate’s Regent Street Vision investment strategy. This £1 billion,20 year programme is regenerating Regent Street and its surroundings in line with the values of quality, heritage, style and success.
Tour B will cover the Crown Estate’s proposals for the regeneration of an area once known as St James’s Market, part of their continuing investment in St James’s. The proposals will deliver over 200,000 sq ft of office floor space, over 45,000 sq ft of retail floor space, together with residential accommodation.

Tour A:  13.00  –  The Quadrant – meet John Walker at the main entrance to the Quadrant on the corner of Air Street and Glasshouse Street. We will be accompanied by Alistair Smart from the Crown Estate and Jeremy Dixon from Dixon Jones Architects.

Tour B:  13.45 - St James Market and presentation of proposals – Meet John Walker outside 56 Haymarket. We will be accompanied by Alistair Smart from the Crown Estate and Justin Nicholls from Make Architects

  • Note decision not to respond to “Statutory Consultee Performance & Award of Costs” as the proposed changes should lead to statutory consultees providing better advice and having to back-up that advice in appeals where they have advised refusal of an application










  • Note decision not to respond to “Streamlining Information Requirements for Planning Applications” as all three proposals seemed acceptable










  • Agree not to respond to “Renegotiation Of Section 106 Planning Obligations” as it would only allow a one month window (after the new regulations come into force) for applications to vary S106 agreements made prior to 5 April 2010 to be made (consultation closes 08:10:12)
