(a) In everyday life hearing is almost as important a sense for most people as seeing. In computerised systems however less use is made of auditory output. Describe the main uses of auditory output and explain why you think it is made less use of than visual output. [10 marks
(b) It is important to take human capabilities and limitations into account in the design of the HCI of computerised systems. For most people, hearing and vision are the most important senses used in HCI. Outline the characteristics of
human vision that should betaken into account when designing the interface fora system. [10 marks

QUESTION 4
You have been appointed as the Human Factors expert to join the team working on anew computerised system being developed by your company. The system is for the use in the company’s large hour call-centre where staff work in shifts answering telephone enquiries and complaints from customers. The hardware for the system will be builtin to the user’s workstation (i.e. their desk) and includes headphone, mouse, keyboard and screen. Explain FOUR of the health and safety issues that you think should be considered during the development of the system and working practices.
