Riverhead Industrial Development Agency Names
Anna Maria Villa New Executive Director
Riverhead, Sept. 15-- The Riverhead Industrial Development Agency (RIDA) has named Anna Maria Villa as its new Executive Director. Her appointment became effective August 13.
The newly appointed official said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of the growth of such an exciting community. It has everything from tourist attractions to shopping malls to a variety of attractive businesses. I hope to help RIDA build on what we have--such as the Atlantis Marine World, Splish Splash Water Park, Tanger Factory Outlets, museums, theatre, beaches, golf courses, vineyards, fine schools and so much more. "
Commenting on her appointment, Riverhead Town Supervisor Phil Cardinale said, “I am delighted that the position of Executive Director of the Riverhead IDA has been filled by such an energetic and passionate person, and I look forward to working with Anna Maria and the New IDA to enhance the economic development of the Town of Riverhead.”
Board Chairman Sean McCabe echoed the supervisor’s reaction to the appointment adding: "We are pleased to have someone of Ms. Villa's experience, talents and enthusiasm direct the efforts of our business growth. Riverhead is the seat of Suffolk County and has been the gateway to the East End and a crossroad and trade center for Long Island since 1792.”
Ms. Villa was founder and president of Sforza Bandola, a full service marketing and consulting firm that develops strategic marketing and sales programs for small to mid-sized businesses, not-for-profits and high-profile individuals here and in Italy including engineering firms, manufacturers and restaurants. She also has worked with governmental and political clients as well as clients in arts, entertainment, tourism and academia. Among them was the Small Business Development Center in Stony Brook and in Farmingdale as well as Hofstra University's Business Development Center. In addition, she has been a featured speaker on marketing communication topics at Stony Brook University and Farmingdale State College. Ms. Villa has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Management and Economics majoring in Marketing from Empire State College, State University of New York in Old Westbury, USA and an Associate’s degree in Applied Arts in Community Studies (Diploma di Maturita' - Dirigente di Communita'), ITALY. Ms. Villa is a member of the Press Club of Long Island/Society of Professional Journalists. She is bi-lingual, speaks, writes, and translates/transcribes Italian fluently.
Created and established in 1980 as a public benefit corporation, RIDA’s mission is to attract new businesses to Riverhead and to help existing Riverhead businesses expand their operations and
remain in Riverhead. In doing so, RIDA seeks to advance the job opportunities, health, general
prosperity and economic welfare of the people of the Town of Riverhead and to improve their
standard of living. The Agency serves businesses by providing financial assistance and incentives. It acts

as the conduit through which transactions take place and as an aggressive pathfinder through the government/financial maze. It has the authority to issue tax exempt or taxable Industrial Development Bonds, offer real property tax abatements, sales and compensating use tax exemptions, and mortgage recording tax exemptions. In addition, it assists business owners and developers in locating suitable sites for development.
