Review of Fundraising Resources

One-Page Case for Support

Susan explained the purpose of a Case for Support and its role in cultivating major donors. The one page document is being made available to the RFC’s and is a condensed version of a larger 12-page document. Susan invited Chairs’ feedback on the document.

It will be nicer than a PowerPoint at fall meetings and it will make sense to members.
10 Reasons to Give 10%
This was a result of brainstorming about a new, fun way to communicate the importance of contributing 10% to Club Giving.
Amparo would like to use this in a PowerPoint, she thinks it’s better than the ones she has been using; it’s shorter and very good. Vanessa shared this document with people at leadership workshops this month and it was well received: people liked it and were excited; the statistic of 78% of eligible applicants not receiving Live You Dream Awards funding really resonated. Vanessa remarked that it is well done, simple, and easy to understand.
Amparo asked if it could be downloaded. Ginny thought this was wonderful and is going to get it printed nicely.
Club Giving Infographic

Amparo liked the presentation of this information. Several people had difficulties downloading the image; Development Department will provide it as a PDF.

Club Giving Benefits and Region Contests

Susan and Danielle explained updates: that everyone who contributes to Club Giving will receive a certificate and digital badge and that we will be introducing the shooting star seal for clubs that increase their giving.

Amparo likes that everyone will get a Club Giving certificate; her members will love this. Ginny asked some clarifying questions, specifically if an increased amount at 10% would receive a shooting star seal.
Susan shared that, based on survey results, we will be discontinuing the Region Contests which were incentives for Region Governors and Fundraising Chairs to encourage Club Giving participation in their regions.
Susan noted that SI/Whitefish, MT is featured on the Club Giving benefits and inquired whether Region Fundraising Chairs had anything to share regarding how clubs are rallying around SIA Dream Programs.
Karen explained that, after years of thinking about different ways to give, SI/Whitefish, MT wanted to step up with their thrift store. The members felt it was the least they could do, and has set an example for other clubs in the region who also have stores. Karen noted that focusing on how and why they’re doing it helps other clubs see that their efforts are worthwhile to everybody.
Story Sharing

Jen liked the idea of taking stories from the clubs themselves and thinks there’s nothing stronger than hearing from your peers about what they’re doing. This will motivate other clubs and she will look for these kinds of stories in her region. Susan requested that Region Fundraising Chairs ask for these stories – proud moments or challenges – and share them back with HQ. Vanessa is going to have each club fill something out at District Meetings so they can share why they enjoy giving and make them feel great about giving; make each club feel important. Tracy suggested featuring a club on the website periodically.

Updates

Diane Thompson Match

Susan shared about Diane Thompson’s $50,000 match. $31,000 had been raised as of the call.

Torrid

After almost 2 years, Torrid Foundation launched with us as its first charity partner. We will apply for a grant from the Torrid Foundation at the appropriate time and for an appropriate amount. On the heels of this, we’ve been invited to apply for grants from two other large companies.

Jen asked if clubs could put a link to Torrid on their websites. Susan will check with Susan Doughty, but can’t imagine why not. Skye suggested linking directly to the Torrid Foundation page.
Club President Letter

Susan wanted to share what was sent to all Club Presidents. It includes a quote from the UN as validation for our mission. Ginny concurred that there is external validation for what we’re doing; she’s been to the UN Women’s Conference three times. Kim Sayers appreciated that this validation was shared: the big picture motivates members in her region and helps them buy into what we’re doing.

Other Business

The next steps for Region Fundraising Chairs is additional training.
