  1. Atlantic Coastal Plains is the lowland area that borders the Atlantic Ocean. It stretches along the Atlantic Coast of the United States from New York to Florida.




  1. Great Plains is the flat, grassy area of land in the central part of the United. States. It extends from Canada to the south through the west central part of U.S. into Texas.




  1. The Continental Divide is an imaginary line that follows the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. It extends from Alaska to Mexico. All rivers EAST of the Rocky Mountains flow towards the Atlantic Ocean. All rivers WEST of the Rocky Mountains flow towards the Pacific Ocean.




  1. The Great Basin is the west of the Rocky Mountains and east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It gets its name because it is shaped like a giant bowl.




  1. Death Valley is the hottest, lowest, and driest area of the United States. It is a desert valley located in Eastern California and Western Nevada.




  1. The Gulf of Mexico is the large body of water south of the United States and east of Mexico. The water is warmer than the water in the Atlantic Ocean.




  1. St. Lawrence River flows through northeastern Canada. The river provides transportation of raw materials and people between the United States and Canada.




  1. The Great Lakes are a group of five fresh water lakes located between the north-central portion of the United States and Canada.
