PACE Employees of the Year
andreadayley 2013 Classified Employee of the Year
Andrea Dayley, the College of Southern Idaho’s Dental Clinic Manager, has been awarded the 2013 CSI Classified Employee of the Year by CSI’s Professional and Classified Employee organization. Dayley has worked at the Health Sciences Center for three years and was credited for her commitment to the office, connections with the students, and support for her colleagues.

Comments from co-workers and students:

  • Andie is patient yet firm in giving students direction to become professional and reliable in patient care. Andie empathizes with each student, offering them support and encouragement with kind words and a huge smile.

  • Andie has been amazing and willing to commit to the community college mission and to the success of students.

  • Andie answers patient questions regarding mailing/releasing protocol for radiographs and records. She is trusted to keep sensitive situations in her confidence.

  • Andie attended the Utah dental meeting in the spring to update her knowledge base and skills. Managing a dental clinic, the magnitude of the CSI clinic has demanded she be trained in new software, equipment, regulations, and procedures related to the day to day operations.

2013 Professional Employee of the Year sandywapinski
Sandy Wapinski, the Public Services Manager for the College of Southern Idaho Library, has been awarded the 2013 CSI Professional Employee of the Year by CSI’s Professional and Classified Employee organization. Her nominators credit her with never shying away from work, creating a positive and pleasant work place, and even providing snacks for work study students if they don’t have time for meals.
Comments from co-workers and students:

  • Sandy works extremely hard to make sure that the library work study’s work schedules do not interfere at all with their school activities. Most of us have older parents that sometimes need our care, requiring time off and Sandy is right there to volunteer to help cover shifts so that time off may happen. Sandy goes out of her way to ensure all those who need help receive it in a kind and efficient manner.

  • When there is a job to be done, Sandy is always there to lend a hand. She has demonstrated her commitment to the job through nearly twenty years of loyalty to CSI and the diligence with which she handles her position.

  • Sandy is always professional, honest, and open with all aspects of her job. Sandy is very professional at all times, knowing policies, standards, programs and workflows needed to keep the library running smoothly and efficiently.

  • When the library updated their automated system, Sandy became the go to person on the new system and worked to learn all aspects of the system. From HR and Management training and workshops, to keeping up with the latest software, Sandy is the go-to person for department knowledge.

Picks from the Shelf

product details Marty - DVD – A wonderful old-fashioned love story starring Ernest Borgnine and Betsy Blair. The movie screen presents itself in that glorious 1955 B&W Cinematography. The theatrical trailer is a different twist than the movie trailers of today. Burt Lancaster introduces the movie to the audience while giving a bit of background to the story of Marty and his journey to love. You will enjoy this movie for its richness and warmth. – Ann Keane, ADC Office Spec.
product details A Serious Man DVD – The Coen brothers Joel and Ethan have come up with a delightful hysterical movie about the pathos of life experienced by Larry Gopnik. He has a student who is willing to bribe him with money to keep from failing a class. His unemployed brother is sleeping on the couch and coming up with a formula to cheat at cards. His daughter never wants to be home and is always washing her hair. His son is smoking pot and studying for his Bar Mitzvah. His wife wants to leave him for his best friend who she refers to as a serious man. Larry wonders what it is that makes someone a serious man. – Ann Keane, ADC Office Spec.
product details Big Miracle, DVD – Inspired by a true story this is a wonderful family movie that shows how different organizations and countries can come together in a crisis. All for a family of three stranded whales in Barrow, Alaska. Some incredible archival news footage from 1988 of the event is interspersed throughout the movie. Wowers! You really must sit down and enjoy this movie. – Ann Keane, ADC Office Spec.
product details War Horse, DVD – Steven Speilberg does it again. A wonderful friendship is formed between a young man named Albert and a young horse named Joey. Their bond is never broken. War separates them for a time but the bond remains. This is one of the best feel good movies I have seen in a long time. Although it takes place during the time of World War I the bond of friendship outshines the darkness of war. A true masterpiece. – Ann Keane, ADC Office Spec.
If you have a favorite book, movie or CD from our very own CSI library you would like to recommend to your co-workers, let me know about it. You don’t need to be a professional critic. All you need is two to four sentences giving info on why you think it is something folks might want to spend their time on. – Ann Keane, PACE newsletter editor, ext. 6530, akeane@csi.edu
