The Antikythera "For it is unworthy of excellent men to lose hours like slaves in the labor of calculation which would safely be relegated to anyone else if machines were used."

Gottfried Wilhelm Von Leibniz – 1685. This is Antikythera device below.

The part of Antikythera is a window to gods. The gods were powerful and they gave the Greeks the most protection and attention. Greeks gave offerings to keep their protection and attention. The Greeks relied on the Gods to give their power to Greece. So in other words if you are the god of the sea you would have to keep their naval vessels safe. The Greek gods lived on Mt. Olympus except for Hades he got banned from Mt. Olympus. Here are some of the Greek gods Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Athena, Hera, Hestia, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Pan, Persephone and Hermes. The Greek gods are very powerful and they can control the Greeks so they worshiped so they wouldn’t die. These are the fragments of the Antikythera.

The Antikythera was found more than a century ago. It was found about 108 years ago. Only a few decades ago scientists started to discover the uses of the Antikythera. A crew of sponge divers found it. First one of the crewmembers went down and then got scared by the treasures because the treasure was a bronze and marble statue of a man. Then he went back up and reported his sight then the captain of the sponge divers went down and came up with the Antikythera device and then he went to a museum and put the artifacts in the museum. Those miraculous discoveries lead to the making of the computer. This is a scientist’s remake of the Antikythera.

Another part of Antikythera is Navigation and stars

Before the GPS the ancient Greeks used the Antikythera device to navigate with the stars. There was one problem with the looking in the sky was the clouds would be covering the stars. So an intelligent Greek astronomer made the Antikythera device to navigate through the sea. When you look at the Antikythera device there would be two clocks and a wooden shoebox. Their wouldn’t be numbers on it there would be 2,000 strange symbols. The Antikythera navigated by using planets and stars. It had a map from stars and planets. It used gears to show the planet or star. The Antikythera was the last of it’s kind to be a navigation device to use stars and planets.

The Thomas Arithmomenter was built to help the taxes in France but it wasn’t helpful because the French currency wasn’t in base 10. It was made out of a brass box and six wheels. It was more expensive and popular than Mona Lisa. It was sold in some parts of Europe and America. 30 years after he made the Thomas Arithmomenter it inspired other people to make calculators just like it.

This is the Pascline below.

Calculators became very popular in the 19th century. This machine was the most popular calculator in the 19th century. It was so popular that it had over one hundred clones of this machine. It was very expensive so it had to be kept in a glass case so no one could steal it. It was first in Europe then it was spreading fast through out the world. The world owes Blaise Pascal a big thanks for making that miraculous machine. He made the first calculator that knew how to regroup. You have to turn the handle to get your answer.
