The report derived from the line chart illustrates the number of shops that closed and opened in one country for a seven year period from 2011 to 2018.

Overall, the number of closures fluctuated throughout the year and reached its lowest position in 2015. The number of openings also showed a similar trend since it varied throughout the seven year period, reaching its minimum number in 2018.

From 2011 to 2012, the number of closures declined slightly and then rose steadily over the next one year, reaching just over 7000 closures in 2013. From 2013 to 2014, there was a gentle reduction to approximately 6500 closures and then significantly dropped to about 800 closures in 2015. However, the figure rose considerably again, reaching just over 5000 closures in 2016, and remained fairly stable until 2018.

The number of openings fell significantly from 2011 to 2012, reaching 4000 in 2012. However, the trend increased considerably, reaching 6000 openings in 2014. The number dipped again until it reached its lowest point of 3000 openings in 2018.
