Lodging for the workshop will be at the historic Hotel Thayer at West Point. For information about the hotel, please visit the website http://www.thethayerhotel.com/.

Once accepted for the workshop, you will be given information on how to make your hotel reservations.

Transportation Information

You should make your own travel arrangements to West Point. If you plan to travel by air, the information below is provided to assist you in making those arrangements. You may choose to rent a car for the week to get to and from the airport; however, you will not need a car during the workshop itself.



Nearby airports:

  • Stewart International Airport/Newburgh, NY (SWF): Stewart Airport is approximately 15 miles from West Point. If flying into Stewart, your ground transportation options to get to West Point include:

    • Car rental (Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and Hertz in the terminal).

    • Taxi – Contact information for reservations and rates provided at http://www.panynj.gov/airports/stewart.html.

  • Westchester County Airport, White Plains, NY (HPN): Westchester County Airport is approximately 40 miles from West Point. If flying into Westchester, your ground transportation options to get to West Point include:

    • Car rental (Avis, Alamo, Budget, Hertz, and National in the terminal).

    • Taxi – Contact information for reservations and rates provided at http://www.whiteplainsairport.com/pages/transportation.shtml.

  • Laguardia Airport, New York City (LGA): Laguardia Airport is approximately 56 miles from West Point. If flying into Laguardia, your ground transportation options to get to West Point include:

    • Car rental (Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and National in the terminal).

    • Train – From the airport, you will need to get to Grand Central Station for train service. Options for transport to Grand Central Station include taxi or the NYC Airporter, a shuttle service connecting the airports to Grand Central Station (for rates and information, see http://www.nycairporter.com/Rates.aspx). Once at Grand Central, take the Metro-North Railroad train to Garrison. From Garrison, you will need to take a taxi to get to West Point. You should call ahead if you want this taxi to be waiting for you.

  • John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, NY (JFK): John F. Kennedy Airport is approximately 65 miles from West Point. If flying into JFK, your ground transportation options to get to West Point include:

    • Car rental (Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and National in the terminal).

    • Train – From the airport, you will need to get to Grand Central Station for train service. Options for transport to Grand Central Station include taxi or the NYC Airporter, a shuttle service connecting the airports to Grand Central Station (for rates and information, see http://www.nycairporter.com/Rates.aspx).     • Train – Take the New Jersey transit train from the airport to Harriman Station (this will require one transfer). You will need to take a taxi from Harriman station to West Point – call ahead to have a taxi waiting for you.
