Upgrade from Android 4.2 to Android 6.0
SD Card Upgrade
The SD card needs formatting as FAT32, and the partition of SD card needs to be set as the primary partition, a logical partition will not work.
1. Backup the contents of your SD Card, the contents maybe will be lost.
2. Unzip the sd-CN51-.zip and copy the contents to root directory of SD card on a PC

4. Insert card into the device and power it on, the update should start and take about 20 minutes

4. If upgrade doesn't start but just reboot into current OS, turn off your device by holding the Power-key for 8 seconds, then short press power-key to start the upgrade
5. After upgrade finishes, it will boot into the new OS.
6. The new OS Screens to navigate:
1. Language selection – pick regional language
2. SIM card – Insert SIM card
3. Wifi network – Can skip, but will give a warning screen
4. Set Date and Time
5. Device Name - Need to check again? Required or not
6. Protect – Default is checked requiring a pin, if skipped you will get a warning screen
7. Google services – Find location and Android experience – uncheck
8. Wallpaper change – skip
9. Now should be at desktop
7. To confirm upgrade version
1. Go to setting > About phone > Build number

8. Then long press power-key and select power-off from the popped menu, then remove SD card. Now the device is ready to use.

OTA Upgrade (non-SD card)
How to upgrade from JB (4.2) to M (6.0) without external SD card.
1. Create an ota_install folder in the internal storage folder.

3. Copy/Download the android M full-OTA package(user build ) to the ota_install/ in internal SD card, and rename its name to update.zip.2 4. Copy/Download the android M common ES package(release build) to the ota_install/ in internal SD card, and rename its name to
Honeywell_CommonES.zip.2 5. Copy/Download the JB_upgrade_to_M_package.zip to the ota_install/ in internal SD card
6. Option 1: Automatic by OTAinstall apk--> 3rd party MDM will launch the
OTAinstall, OTAinstall detects the JB_upgrade_to_M_update.zip and reboot the device and start update
7. Option 2: Manually update--> Go to setting > About phone > System updates>click on “JB_upgrade_to_M_update.zip”, click ‘ok’ on the popped window, the system will reboot and start the upgrading.
8. Option 3: Manually update--> Reboot the device to recovery, Choose the "JB_upgrade_to_M_update.zip" for upgrading after the device rebooted.
i. If the Android guy has a RED triangle with a “!”, then press the “End call” button.

iii. This will bring up the menu, scroll down to “install update from internal sdcard” and press “enter”. iv. Select “0” and then scroll down to “ota_install”, press “enter” and you should see the JBxxxxxx.zip file. Scroll to this file and press “enter” and
“Yes” to install.
9. Wait for the end of Full-OTA upgrade, then device will boot into OS.

10. After the OS boots into desktop, a message will be shown that Common ES package detected, the device will reboot again to install the ES packages.
11. After finished the ES packages installation, the device will boot into Android OS and ready to use.
12. During the whole update progress, more than 5 reboot cycles are needed
13. The whole progress will take about 30minutes and Common ES tool are also installed through this progress.
14. After update complete, check setting > About phone > Build number, to make sure the version you flashed was updated.
Note: OTAInstall is an APK that already exists in the Android Jelly Bean OS. Customers can use an MDM to send an intent to this APK to launch the OTA installation. (Note that only MDM agents that have been signed with Honeywell keys have access to this APK.)
Alternately, the customer can go to Settings > About phone > System update, and select and the OTA manually. System update will call the OTAInstall APK in background to start the installation.
