REVIEW OF THE COMMITTEE'S TECHNICAL PLAN AND ITS
IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAMME FOR 2014 AND BEYOND

Summary and Purpose of Document
This document presents in the Appendix the draft RA IV Hurricane Committee's Technical Plan and its Implementation Programme for 2014–2018. The draft has been prepared from the 2013–2017 Plan (adopted at the 35th session; see reference 1) with the changes/updates which were proposed by the Committee Members prior to this session.

The Hurricane Committee is invited to:

Review the draft RA IV Hurricane Committee's Technical Plan and its Implementation Programme as given in the Appendix and recommended changes to it;

Indicate items to be given priority attention during the years from 2014 to 2018;
-
Decide on further actions to be taken to promote the achievement of its goals;
-
Recommend that the President of RA IV approves the draft amendments formulated by the session.

DISCUSSION
1. The RA IV Hurricane Committee's Technical Plan and its Implementation Programme sets out the coordinated steps to be taken by Members for future development to meet regional needs for upgrading forecasts and warning services for hurricanes and associated floods as well as for related disaster prevention and preparedness measures and supporting activities in training and research.
2. The Regional Association IV, at its sixteenth session (April 2013) re established the RA IV Hurricane Committee and kept in force Resolution 8 (IX-RA IV) - RA IV Hurricane Committee's Technical Plan and its Implementation Programme (see reference 2). The Plan was most recently updated by the Thirty-fifth session of the Committee (see reference 1). The amendments recommended by the Committee were approved by the President of RA IV.
3. The Committee may wish to make an in-depth review of the Plan, taking into account in particular the information provided by Members and the discussions under this and other agenda items.
