ABSTRACT : In this paper, an attempt has been made to review various existing generations of mobile wireless technology in terms of their features, performance, advantages and disadvantages. We will also discuss the evolution and development of all different generations of mobile wireless technology along with their significance and advantages of one over the other. In this paper, comparison of 5G will also be done with all other generations from 1G to 4G including their important characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. Then later in this paper, requirement of 5G technology, 5G networks and 5G Mobile Network Architecture will be discussed. In the end all the features of 5G technology, its advantages over other generations and applications will be included and some future scope like ‘beyond 5G’ will be proposed.

Keywords : 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE, 5G.

INTRODUCTION

5G mobile telecommunication standards stand for fifth-generation advancements made in the mobile communications field. Mobile wireless industry has started its technology creation, revolution and evolution since early 1970s. In the past few decades, mobile wireless technologies have experience 4 or 5 generations of technology revolution and evolution. At present four generations of wireless technology exist in the world. These are 1G- the first generation, 2G- the second generation, 3G- the third generation, and then the 4G- the forth generation, 5G-the fifth second generation. multiple Access), OFDM (Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) , MCCDMA (Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access), UWB (Ultra-wideband), Network-LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution) , and IPv6. Fifth generation technologies offers tremendous data capabilities and unrestricted call volumes and infinite data broadcast together within latest mobile operating system. Fifth generation should make a considerable difference and should provide more and more services and give benefits to the world over 4G.

DIFFERENT GENERATIONS OF MOBILE WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
The Mobile wireless industry has started its technology creation, revolution & evolution since early 1970s. In the past few decades, mobile wireless technologies have been classified according to their generation, which largely specifies the type of services and the data transfer speeds of each class of technologies.

  1. FIRST GENERATION (1G) : In 1979, the first cellular system in the world became operational by Nippon Telephone and Telegraph (NTT) in Tokyo, Japan. First-generation mobile systems used analog transmission for speech services. Advance mobile phone system (AMPS) was first launched by the US and is a 1G mobile system. It allows users to make voice calls in one country. 1G technology replaced 0G technology, which featured mobile radio telephones and such technologies as Mobile Telephone System (MTS), Advanced Mobile Telephone System (AMTS), Improved Mobile Telephone Service (IMTS), and Push to Talk (PTT).

  1. SECOND GENRATION (2G) : 2G emerged in late 1980s. It uses digital signals for voice Transmission and has speed of 64 kbps. It provides facility of SMS (Short Message Service) and use the bandwidth of 30 to 200 KHz. Next to 2G, 2.5G system uses packet switched and circuit switched domain and provide data rate up to 144 kbps. E.g. GPRS, DMA and EDGE.

  1. THIRD GENERATION (3G) : 3G refers to the third generation of mobile telephony (that is, cellular) technology. 3G technologies enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Services include wide area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment.

  1. FOURTH GENERATION (4G) : 4G offers a downloading speed of 100Mbps. 4G provides same feature as 3G and additional services like Multi Media Newspapers, to watch T.V programs with more clarity and send Data much faster than previous generations. LTE (Long Term Evolution) is considered as 4G technology. 4G is being developed to accommodate the QoS and rate requirements set by forthcoming applications like wireless broadband access, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), video chat, mobile TV, HDTV content, Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), minimal services like voice and data, and other services that utilize bandwidth.

FIFTH GENERATION (5G)
5G is a packet switched wireless system with made area coverage. The 5G technologies include all type of advanced features which makes it most powerful like a user can also hook their 5G technology cell phones with their laptops to get broadband internet access. The 5G communication system is envisioned as the real wireless network, capable of supporting World Wireless Wide Web.
5G Network

5G network is very fast and reliable. The concept of hand held devices is going to be revolutionized with the advent of 5G. Now all the services and applications are going to be accessed by single IP as telephony, gaming and many other multimedia applications. s. As it is not a new thing in market and there are millions of users all over the world who have experienced the wireless services wireless technology. It is not easy for them to shrink from using this new 5G network technology. There is only need to make it accessible so that a common man can easily afford the profitable packs offered by the companies so that 5G network could hold the authentic place. There is need to win the customer trust to build fair long term relation to make a reliable position in the telecommunication field. To complete with the preceding wireless technologies in the market 5G network has to tender something reliable something more pioneering. All the features like telephony, camera, mp3 player, are coming in new mobile phone models. 4G is providing all these utility in mobile phone. By seeing the features of 4G one can gets a rough idea about what 5G Networks could offer. There is messenger, photo gallery, and multimedia applications that are also going to be the part of 5G. There would be no difference between a PC and a mobile phone rather both would act vice versa.

FEATURES OF 5G TECHNOLOGY

  • The 5G wireless internet networks are real wireless world which shall be supported by CDMA, OFDM, MCCDMA, UWB and IPv6.

  • 5G technology has extraordinary data capabilities and has ability to tie together unrestricted call volumes and infinite data broadcast within latest mobile operating system.

  • The router and switch technology used in 5G network would provide high connectivity for wireless gadgets.

  • 5G technology would provide large broadcasting of data in Gigabytes.

  • 5G technology would offer high resolution for wireless gadget users and bi-directional large bandwidth shaping.

  • The 5G technology would also support virtual private network.

ADVANTAGES OF 5G TECHNOLOGY

  • Globally accessible

  • Dynamic information access

  • Lower battery consumption

  • High system level spectral efficiency

  • With 6th sense technology

  • Faster data transmission than the previous generations

FUTURE SCOPE : Beyond 5G

The future enhancement of Nano-core will be incredible as it combines with artificial intelligent (AI).One can able to control his intelligent Robot using his mobile phone. Your Mobile can automatically type the message what your brain thinks. We might get a circumstance where we don’t require any spectrum for communication. The Google hot trends have rated the term 6G as the 17th most searched word in the search engines. The iPod 6G comes in seven different colors and has an aluminum body which makes the body strong to with stand constant daily usage. It has a clip on design like iPod shuffle and it attached to shirt firmly. 6G technology haven’t been fully revealed yet but search phrases like what is 6G mobile technology, 6G technology, 6G mobile, 6G network, 6G wiki, 6G technology ppt. are getting more familiar with new mobile technology getting evolved.

CONCLUSION

5G technology is going to be a new resolution in wireless systems market. The 5G is based on 4G technologies. Fifth generation technologies offers tremendous data capabilities and unrestricted call volumes and infinite data broadcast together within latest mobile operating system. Fifth generation should make an important difference and add more services and benefits to the world over 4G. Fifth generation should be more intelligent technology that interconnects the entire world without limits. This generation is expected to be released round 2020. The world of universal, uninterrupted access to information, entertainment and communication will open new dimension to our lives and change our life style significantly.
