5 July 1781/82: (the igi gives both dates) married Lincoln County, Kentucky, (the first recorded marriage of a white woman in Kentucky) General James Ray (1761-1810) son of John Ray (of Amherst County, Virginia, ca 1735-ca 1780) and Mary Buntin (of Surry County, North Carolina). Brothers of James were William and John. James m/2 Elizabeth Talbott, sister of Isham Talbott, and had eight more children. General Ray was active in the protection of the Kentucky Stations against the Indian raids. He commanded James Ray's Company of Kentucky Mounted Militia. He had no schooling, but served in the Kentucky Legislature. He received on of the four highest pensions paid as Lieutenant and Captain in the Virginia line -$340. He came from North Carolina with Daniel Boone. He later moved to southwestern Indiana, where he died. His brother, William, was killed at the Battle of Blue Licks. Children of second wife: Polly, Dr. John, Catherine, Jane, Patsy, Jefferson, Harvey, Lucinda, Mary, Henry, and James (“Filson Club Historical Society” v19, 1945).

The list of children includes: wife of James Ray as Millie, the daughter of Matthias Yoakum, who had brought his family to McGary's Station shortly after it was completed. Amelia died 1 Dec 1783, leaving Ray two infant sons, William and Jesse (William Ray died Illinois 1841.) Ray m/2 Elizabeth Talbott, sister of Isham, 11 children, she died 1810.”
