2014-15 SEASON: Appeared in three games for the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per game before being traded to the Timberwolves on Feb. 10, 2015... Payne has appeared in 17 games between the Fort Worth Mad Ants and Austin Spurs in the NBA D-League, averaging 12.9 points, on 48.3% shooting, 8.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.2 minutes per game.
2014 SUMMER LEAGUE: Started all six games for the Hawks’ Las Vegas Summer League entry, and averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 29.0 minutes.
COLLEGE NOTES: A four-year letterman at Michigan State, Payne finished his career as the Spartans’ all-time leader in blocked shots (141) while becoming one-of-nine players in school history with 1,200 career points (1,232) and 700 career rebounds (735)... In 138 career games, averaged 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 20.0 minutes (.526 FG%, .409 3FG%, .755 FT%)... Was a two-time Second Team All-Big Ten honoree, as a junior and senior, while garnering Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America honors, as well as Second Team NABC and USBWA All-District accolades last season... As a senior in 2013-14, averaged 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.9 blocks in 28.1 minutes in 31 games (.503 FG%, .423 3FG%, .790 FT%)... In 2012-13, put up 10.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 25.6 minutes (36 games), hitting .546 FGs, .381 3FGs and .848 FTs... Compiled 7.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 17.9 minutes (.566 FG%, .697 FT%), appearing in 37 games in 2011-12...
