Greetings... 50 years, too fast. Spent half of those years in the home building and design area. The other half as a custodian for a church in Winchester. I got married when I was forty, to Kate. We now have a family of 11 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids. Two are from China. We are spending my retirement keeping cemetery records up to date and going to the grandkids baseball and football games. Blessings to all.

After graduation I attended the UW- Madison Engineering School and graduated in 1967 with a Master’s Degree. I had gone through ROTC in college so I had to enter the US Air Force. I was stationed at Ft. Meade, MD and was assigned to the National Security Agency from 1967 thru 1971. I then worked for an engineering consulting company in Arlington, VA for three years. I then left and went to work for the US Air Force as a civilian, working on testing and evaluation of equipment. In 1984, I transferred to the US Army as a civilian, still working on testing and evaluation of equipment. As a result of my job, I was able to travel to many different countries through-out the world, examining military equipment that failed and determining repairs/fixes for the items. Getting reacquainted with Dawn Rowlandson after the 40th NHS reunion resulted in our marriage in 2002. In 2003, I was transferred from the Washington, DC area to NC to become Chief of the Test and Evaluation Section. In 2006 I retired and we currently live in North Carolina. At our home, I have a wood and metal work-shop where I build and fix all manner of things. I have carved a five foot tall carousel rocking horse. I have wanted to visit China since I was a little boy. In 2007, Dawn and I spent an absolutely wonderful month in China. To the grandchildren, I’m the “Giant.”

Fifty years in a few sentences? Wow! I came to Simi Valley in Southern California in 1965 to teach first grade. Met my husband Jack here. He was a 6th grade teacher. We married and traveled by camper during the summers for 5 years before having kids. Drove to Alaska along the Alcan Highway in 1968.
We had two boys and kept on traveling and teaching. He taught junior high and I hit all grades in elementary school except kindergarten and 6th grade. During the summers, we have been many places, including Canada and Mexico. We did a lot of salt-water fishing in Mexico. The ocean is a lot warmer there than in California! We have spent the summer and fall in Montana for the last 5 years. We miss camping, but we traded the motor home for a place on the lake there. My sister lives in Montana, too, so I enjoy spending time with her. Montana reminds me of Wisconsin. There are lots of flat open fields and wonderful old barns in Flathead Valley. I love seeing all the growing things and smelling the richness of the earth. So much wildlife, too. Such a friendly place filled with wonderful genuine people who have time to talk and get to know about you. Life has been good to us. I look forward to hearing all about what you all have been doing for the last 50 years. Could it really have been that long?

The last reunion I attended was in 1986. We have 5 kids and 8 grandchildren. Rick lives in Mesa and has 1 girl and 2 boys; David lives in Maricopa (about 40 minutes south of Mesa) and has 3 girls. Susan is not married and lives with us in Mesa, Jennifer lives in Mount Juliet, near Nashville and has 2 boys; Brad lives in Boston and is not married yet. We moved to Arizona in 1987 and have been happy in the Sunshine. I finally retired in May and we became the best old birds of all -SNOWBIRDS!!! After many years of tent camping, we now have a travel trailer and have spent the last 2 months traveling around Canada and Alaska. We also enjoy 4-wheeling and have explored a lot of the mountains of the western states especially Colorado. I started selling appliances and TV's in 1984 for about 4 years in Neenah and Mesa and then started working at the East Valley Tribune newspaper in 1988 in circulation and then in advertising sales. In 2002 I started at the Arizona Republic in the classified advertising department. I enjoyed my years of advertising sales. We are starting a new phase - retirement - and plan on having as much fun as the last 50 years have been. I am looking forward to getting together with everyone!

After high school, the first two summers I worked as a typist at Kimberly Clark Research & Development and Purchasing. The third summer I kept my school-year, proofreading job at Castle Pierce Printing in Oshkosh. The summer between my Junior and Senior year was the most fun and great experience; a friend and I worked two jobs in Hyannis, MA, as chambermaids and clerks in a candy store. After graduating from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology major, Spanish minor) in 1965, I worked as a psychiatric Social Worker at Winnebago State Hospital until marrying Jerry Tonn in November 1967. I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to raise our two children: Andrea born in 1969 and Brian born in 1974. Andrea is now an employment Attorney with Denver City and has two
grandchildren for us: Garrett, age 6, and Aubrey, age 4. Brian is a Deputy Sheriff with Clackamas County in Oregon. He is also a Search and Rescue Coordinator in the Mount Hood area. His 12-year marriage just ended; they had no children. I started working again when Brian was in elementary school. During those years I worked as an AWOL Counselor with Job Corps students, a high school tennis coach, and a hospital Medical Staff Services office credentialer and held various administrative assistant positions. Finally, after we settled in the Ogden area the second time, I was able to stay in one place long enough to get 12+ years of retirement with the State of Utah retiring at age 65 as a statistician and Pre-admission Advisor for a college nursing program. At age 28 I fell in love with the game of tennis and have been playing ever since. My goal has always been to beat Bob Kosloske in singles, but that only happened once after Kuz was recovering from vehicle accident injuries. Now that I’m retired, I’m playing a lot more tennis, and in October 2010, my doubles partner and I won the gold medal for our age group (65-69) at the Huntsman Senior World games in St. George, UT. Hey, Kuz, how about another match! I’m also a P.E.O. member, avid quilter, active gardener, and bridge player and have served our church in several leadership positions. Since retirement, Jerry and I are playing more golf together. The wives joined the men at a Palm Springs area condo for the annual golf week this year, and we visited Pam Peters Praulins’ beautiful home.

After graduating from college in 1965 with a biology major, John Severson and I were married and we drove to San Francisco where John went to seminary for three years and I taught school. We really missed the weather (4 seasons) in the Midwest so we moved to Duluth, Minnesota, where John took a job as Associate Minister at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Our two boys were born in Duluth; Peter in 1969 and Eric in 1971. In 1974, we moved to South St. Paul where John was the Associate Minister at First Presbyterian Church. I also was on staff at the church as a part time Director of Christian Education.
John accepted the position as Head of Staff at Covenant Presbyterian Church and in 1981 our family moved to West Des Moines, Iowa. We lived across the street from Valley High School so I decided to sign up as a substitute teacher in the science department. In spite of what you may have heard about substitute teaching, this turned out to be a great experience for me! I also worked half time at the church as the Resource and Training Specialist. Our family suffered a devastating loss in March 1996 when our oldest son, Peter Andrew, died suddenly in his sleep of a heart virus. With the love and support of our family and friends, and the grace of God, we were able to move forward after this tragedy. John and I decided that life is indeed precious and short, and we made plans to retire early in 2001. We built a home in Northfield, Minnesota, about 45 miles from our son, Eric, who teaches English and Theatre at St. Paul Academy. We are enjoying our retirement and have done quite a bit of traveling outside of the U.S. We look forward to a trip to the Antarctic this fall. We also enjoy vacationing up along the north shore of Lake Superior; hiking, searching for waterfalls, snow shoeing in the winter. Presently, I volunteer in the community serving on several boards. One of the most rewarding experiences is serving on WINGS (Women in Northfield Giving Support) - a unique philanthropic organization providing grants and support to women and children in the Northfield school district. I chair the adult education committee and the arts committee at our church, and organize the Wednesday evening dinner and activities. I enjoy knitting, walking, reading, and baking!

After graduating from Neenah High School, I attend the UW in Madison and earned a degree in economics. Immediately after graduation I got an invitation to join the U.S. Army; they would not take no for an answer. After attending Infantry Training and Officer Candidate School, I spent my active duty time in Germany. In 1969 I got out of the military and got a job working for U. S. Steel in the Chicago Area. During a trip to Minneapolis, I met Inta Stolcers1971. I moved to the Minneapolis area and have been here ever since. For the last 25 years I worked for United Defense, later bought out by BAE (British Aerospace Equipment). The plant made naval guns and various missile launching systems for the U. S. Navy. I worked in production control and supply chain management on various programs and at various levels. During this time, our two bundles of joy were born - a son, Paul, and a daughter, Vizma. Both are now in their early thirties, married and living in the Minneapolis area. Our five year old grandson keeps us entertained and busy. While working and raising kids, I was also in the Army Reserve and made two to three week training trips to Germany and Korea. I retired from the Reserves in 1995 as a Lieutenant Colonel. In 2005 I retired and joined the AARP crowd. Inta is still doing some substitute teaching in our school district. We do some traveling, but pretty much home bodies now. I have an old farm outside of Tomah, WI that keeps me pretty occupied spring, summer and fall. I plan on keeping the farm until the drive gets too long or when I need a Hoveround power chair. Each day I tell my wife, "Life is good".

After graduating from NHS, I became a nurse (LPN) and worked in the pediatrics department at Theda Clark until marrying Larry....it was either that or charge him with “stalking”. We spent several years in South Bend, IN while Larry finished his senior year and then graduate school at Norte Dame. We had three children while in South Bend; Eric, Dana and Deke. In 1968, we moved to Rock Island, IL where Larry worked as a civilian for the army R&D Weapons Center. Our fourth and final child, Keirsa was born and I took up competitive racquetball playing in several Pro-Ams. In 1976, we moved to the PA/MD border where Larry accepted a position with the Ballistics Research Laboratory. I became a racquetball instructor and program director at a local racquet center. I also taught swimming in the summer. In 1986, we were on the move again to Saratoga Springs, NY where Larry became the director of Benet Laboratories in Albany. I acquired a real estate license, which I never used, but became a teacher's assistant working with challenged children........which I loved. In '95 we moved back to the MD area (Havre de Grace) when Larry became a director at the Army Research Laboratory......to which I agreed, contingent on us returning to Saratoga Springs upon retirement. When Larry retired in 2000, we moved back to Saratoga Springs allowing Larry time to solve problems that needn't be ….and me to solve those that do. We both have become avid tennis players. I play for a local USTA team and crush Larry whenever I can! (He might have a different take on the latter........don't believe him). Our kids are scattered and live in all directions; Eric in Australia, Dana in Louisiana, Deke in CA and Keirsa in NY.
