Richard Justice, Washington Post: he'd signed a three-year, $2.9 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. The Redskins wanted him back, but were unwilling to match Atlanta's offer of a $500,000 signing bonus and annual salaries of $500,000, $1 million and $900,000.
Len Pasquarelli, Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Geathers, 34, signed a two-year contract.

It is believed the deal is worth substantially less than the contract extension Atlanta had previously offered Geathers. In April, the Falcons proposed adding one year (1996) to Geathers' existing contract and raising his compensation for '95 from $1.2 million to about $1.45 million. The deal he signed on Tuesday includes a signing bonus, and Geathers can reportedly earn about $750,000 - but only by reaching predetermined performance standards.

Dan Pompei, Chicago Sun-Times: Jeff George made hundreds of thousands of dollars last week even though he isn't even on a team. He did it by winning a grievance hearing against the Falcons, who had been trying to withhold four paychecks from George for conduct detrimental to the team. An arbitrator ruled George should collect all but three-fourths of one paycheck, roughly $160,000. So the Falcons now have to pay their former quarterback $695,529 that they had been withholding.

Pat Yasinskas, ESPN: Gonzalez was scheduled to receive a $31,250 bonus for every game he’s been active this season.
Pat Yasinskas, ESPN: Gonzalez will make almost $7 million in 2012, but will only count $5.9 million toward the team’s salary cap… Gonzalez’s base salary for 2012 will be $3.9 million, but he also already earned that $2 million renegotiation bonus. The deal also includes a $1 million bonus if Gonzalez is on the roster on opening day.
Brian McIntyre, MacsFootballBlog.com: Gonzalez's extension is actually worth $6.9 million and did not contain a signing bonus. Instead, Gonzalez received a $2 million advance from his 2012 salary, which is prorated evenly over the 2011 and 2012 league years, as is the $31,250 per game roster bonus Gonzalez received for Week 17. Gonzalez will earn a $3.9 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2012 and has a cap number of $5.916 million in 2012.
D. Orlando Ledbetter, AJC: Gonzalez, who signed a two-year, $14 million contract, will count for $5.25 million on the 2013 salary cap. He’s set to receive a base salary of $3.5 million and he has a bonus of $3.5 million. In 2014, his base salary is $4.0 million with a roster bonus of $3 million if he plans to continue playing. A two-year deal was done in order to spread his bonus money out over two years.
Pat Yasinskas, ESPN: Although Gonzalez will make $7 million this season, his salary-cap figure will be only $5.25 million. That’s because the Falcons structured the deal with what is known as “OATSB’’ (other amount treated as signing bonus). Gonzalez will receive $3.5 million in base salary and another $3.5 million that will treated as OATSB.

Matt Winkeljohn, Atlanta Journal Constitution: one of the first things new coach Dan Reeves and general manager Harold Richardson did was give Hall a contract that included a $ 1 million signing bonus in April that year… He put up big numbers in '97, registering 109 tackles and 10 1/2 sacks while earning a modest $ 200,000 in base salary… His salary jumped to $ 750,000 last season, and $ 1.15 million this season.
Matt Winkeljohn, Atlanta Journal Constitution: Hall's four-year extension gives him a seven-year deal worth $ 52.5 million, more than any contract in team history. But as with all big NFL contracts, the numbers need interpretation. Including Hall's $ 5.1 million signing bonus, it's likely to end up a four- year, $ 16.5 million, or three-year, $ 10.5 million deal… Hall's cap charges in 2002, '03, '04, and '05 are scheduled at $ 6.7 million, $ 10.7 million, $ 12.7 million and $ 14.7 million.
Matt Winkeljohn, Atlanta Journal Constitution: Hall's cap charge of about $6.73 million can be lowered by $1.5 million to $3 million if he'll restructure his $4.8 million salary. Cutting him would save at least $3 million.
Matt Winkeljohn, Atlanta Journal Constitution: Hall has restructured the final four years of his contract, dramatically reducing salaries of $4.8 million, $7.8 million, $8.8 million and $9.8 million.
Len Pasquarelli, ESPN: Hall went from a base salary of $3.1 million for 2004 to total compensation of $1.75 million. He got a signing bonus of $500,000, a roster bonus of $500,000 (cut from $1 million), and a base salary of $750,000. Those moves dropped his cap charge from $6.37 million to $3.67 million. Hall also addressed the 2005 portion of his contract, dropping his cap from $11.5 million to $6.4 million. His base salary went from $7.4 million to $3 million, and a roster bonus of $2 million was chopped in half.
