Pat Yaskinskas, ESPN: Samuel is showing up with a $2.875 cap figure for Atlanta this year. Initially, his figure had shown up as $3.875 million, but the updated breakdown has Philadelphia taking a $1 million hit for pro-rated money this year. Samuel will earn $1.25 million in guaranteed base salary this season. He also has a roster bonus that will pay him $62,500 for each game he is active this season. That means he can earn an extra $1 million, but only $875,000 of that currently is counting against the cap. The other $125,000 does not count against this year’s cap, because it’s listed as a not-likely-to be-earned incentive.

Jenny Vrentas, Newark Star-Ledger: Umenyiora's contract is worth $8.5 million, with $5 million in the first year, and can reach a max value of $12.5 million, the person said.
Joel Corry, NFP: Umenyiora's 2-yr deal w/the Falcons averages $4.25M per yr. $3.75M is fully GTD ($2.5M signing bonus & $1.25M '13 base salary)… Umenyiora's '13 cap number is $3.75M & there's a '14 base salary escalator… Osi makes $5M in '13.
Pat Yasinskas, ESPN: I just got a look at the official numbers on the two-year deal that’s worth $8.5 million. Umenyiora will cost the Falcons $3.75 million against this year’s cap. Umenyiora got a $2.5 million signing bonus and his 2013 base salary will be a guaranteed $1.75 million. He also has a $750,000 roster bonus. In 2014, Umenyiora’s base salary rises to $2.5 million and he has a $1 million roster bonus. His 2014 cap figure will be $4.75 million, but that could rise if Umenyiora meets an unspecified escalator clause.

# Atlanta officials and owner Arthur Blank basically borrowed a page from the Peyton Manning contract in negotiating the Michael Vick extension last week. Vick received an immediate signing bonus of $7.5 million and will earn roster bonuses of $22.5 million in March of 2005 and of $7 million in March of 2006. That accounts for the $37 million in total guaranteed funds in the deal. It also means that Vick will have an unwieldy salary cap charge of nearly $26 million for 2005. So how will the Falcons deal with that? As is the case with Manning's contract in Indianapolis, the team will convert the roster bonus into a signing bonus, which will allow Atlanta to prorate it. The base salaries for the Vick deal: $600,000 (for 2005), $1.4 million (2006), $6 million (2007), $7 million (2008), $9 million (2009), $10.5 million (2010), $13.5 million (2011), $13 million (2012), $15 million (2013) and $17 million (2014). The deal, in its first six seasons, which is about the maximum length that it figures to run before being dramatically restructured, is worth about $71.5 million.

Aaron Wilson, NFP: The contract carries a maximum value of about $17.5 million irepresents an 11.8 percent increase. Weatherspoon also received roughly $10.5 million in total guaranteed money, a 10 percent increase. The base contract of roughly $14 million marks an 11.5 percent increase.
Brian McIntyre, MacsFootballBlog.com: 5-years, $13.9M/17.4M max; $10.45M guaranteed
Pat Yasinkas, ESPN: Weatherspoon only received a $500,000 signing bonus. But he also has a $965,000 roster bonus for this year, and there’s no doubt he’s going to be on the roster. Weatherspoon currently is to earn $3.9 million in base salaries over the course of a contract that could run through 2014. The club holds an option for that final season, and there’s an option bonus that has to be exercised in 2011. Weatherspoon also has some pretty significant escalators and incentives that would kick in on the back end of the deal.
