Shaun Knott from CASELLA Solutions showed that noise doesn’t have to be complicated or difficult and that there are innovative solutions or technology solutions for the benefit of workers’ health for noise, dust and vibration.
The last speaker was from Reactec Ltd. and talked of hand/arm vibration, monitoring and management protecting workers while at the same time reducing costs and overheads. An impressive wrist worn device to measure called Havwear. HAV is one of the most common industrial diseases in the UK, usually caused by prolonged use of power tools that damage blood vessels, muscles or joints. Vibration White Finger is one of the commonly used terms. However once there is a known problem HAV has no cure, there is only prevention.
