Airline Prioritization

The subject airlines of the region were reviewed against the above points and a rating was posted against each airline as follows:

High Priority

- Significant fleet and route frequency

(H)

- Significant route structure covering mainly Region of Interest destinations

- Minimal overlap with Existing AMDAR data providers

- State owned or well established airline

Medium Priority

- Significant overlap with existing AMDAR data providers

(M)

- Acceptable route structure that covers significant part of the region of interest.

- Niche or gap coverage airline (specific coverage that no other airline has)

- Medium sized fleet as it compares to the region

Low Priority

- Small fleet and / or route structure

(L)

- significant route structure overlap with airlines in the region

- significant route structure overlap with existing AMDAR data providers

Data Caveats

  • The ACARS listed aircraft of various airlines is not meant to be a complete list of ACARS fleets. The data was collected from observed flights of ACARS equipped aircraft and not representative of an airline’s entire fleet. The data collected is just being used to provide an idea of whether that airline is a likely ACARS user or if ACARS is just on board as part of the lessors tracking requirements.

  • The route data collected as part of this report is not to be assumed to be 100% complete and only airlines that had available route data were part of this survey and analysis.

  • The route data shown has been collected from various public sources. It is to be used as a guideline and can contain errors or omissions.

  • The airline and route data shows seasonal data so routes change from time to time.

  • The route data contains codeshare information and routes can show up on more than one regional map.

  • Other airlines may exist in each of the regions that may be appropriate for AMDAR but are not included in this data.

  • It would be expected that anyone pursuing the development of AMDAR in the region would re-analyze the airlines in the area for up to date information and airline status.
