3.6 VALIDITY & RELIABILITY STUDY
With the multiple measures and guidance from the review of pertinent literature, and the fundamentals extracted from the research questions, this researcher tried to maintain the validity and reliability of the study by ensuring its findings were purely restricted to, and elicited from children’s opinions. All dimensions and variables within the research topic and research questions was given significance, that was why the content of the questionnaire were carefully designed the way they were.
To test the validity of this study, a “pilot study” was conducted to test the effectiveness and appropriateness of the research instrument (questionnaire) on twenty children. The children were instructed to be free in their choices, while any information elicited from them would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
The children were also allowed to fill the questionnaires themselves, while explanations were given for any question they did not understand.
