IMPACTS ON FY2008
FY 2007 was a productive and successful year for the Ocean County Subregional Transportation Program. It is anticipated that many of the projects that were begun or have progressed during the year will lay the groundwork for continued efforts in FY2008. Some of those include:
In FY2007, Subregional Staff participated in the Walkable Communities Workshop hosted by RBA and NJTPA and used the results to identify a project to apply for funding from the Local Safety Program. In FY2008, we will be using this approach to work with NJTPA to identify another location within the County that needs to address pedestrian safety issues.
In FY2007, Subregional Staff continued efforts to advance the reestablishment of passenger
rail service to Ocean County, presenting reconfigured ridership projections to NJ Transit. In FY2008, we will continue our joint efforts with Monmouth County and the MOM Working Group.
In FY2007, the Interim Ocean County Human Service Transportation Coordination Plan was completed with great collaborative effort and submitted to the FTA. In FY2008, staff will begin the process of implementing a number of the recommendations contained therein.
In FY2007, Subregional Staff
continued to work with the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan and the NJTPA to identify and analyze locations within the County for bicycle and/or pedestrian suitability. In FY2008, we will be using this data to work with NJTPA on the next steps in this project.
