Fluted body with nicely rounded bulged upper casing, leaping to a flared rim. One casing dated 'Dusselforf' 1/11, other Wartime period. 1/16 Feintly stamped. 23cms High. R/H boot/foot has become detached but able to be repaired. Some loss of finish to the facial porcelain area. A very scarce and desireable item for the Boer War collector. Grade II- $1250 4618 GERM WW2 RARE VOLKHOV STICK. Normally made by soldiers or for soldiers by Russian craftsmen on the Eastern front. Ornate cylindrical wooden stick 52cm long. Black and red with carved out sections of natural timber colour. Turned wooden handle to top. Carved out "1944 Russland Andenkenals (1944 souvenir Russia), black Luftwaffe/eagle/swastika. "Meiher lieben schwester von walter" (My dear sister from Walter) black iron cross, horses head and a schrub/tree with leaves. An interesting period made item sent by a member of the Luftwaffe to his sister. Grade II- $650 4619 GERM WW2 LARGE PRINTED EAGLE AND SWASTIKA cut from a ration supply sack. Hanging device to the top consisting of two brass chains with a central brass traingular style plate with curved sides which has a small, silver eagle and swastika attached to it's centre. Remains of some of the original green paint and an old inscription painted in white "nose fairing of fiesler storch shot down by P.47 thunderbold over Normandy August 1944 whilst carrying German officers Jersey to German army H.Q. northern France". Roughly 70x50cm. C/w another smaller piece that attaches on to the main piece and a small piece of tubing. Would make a great display piece. An actual piece of a German WW2 aircraft. Grade II- (relic) $950 4624 ITALY WW2 PIECE OF PAINTED CANVAS CLOTH REMOVED FROM AN ITALIAN SAVOIA-MARCHETTI-79 BOMBER shot down in the Western Desert July 1940. Roughly rectangular shaped 26 x 16cm painted in off white. Covered with names & signatures of English, Australian & NZ Soldiers. Inc. 'J Lawson, Port Chalmers New Zealand', 'Sydney', 'Scotland 1940', 'VX518 El Gullen'? 'Harold Jacobs NSW'. Hard to read some. Also marked 'Savoia 79 Italian Bomber shot down in the Western Desert Egypt July 1940'. Stands approx, 110mm high and is attached within a pivotting brass cradle which is approx 230mm diam. "Floating" black and white enamel compass face with degrees marked from '0' to '360' directions (North, South etc) and makers name with their trade mark brand "Sestrel". Items inc. part of a leather shoe sole with three hob nails, two hand made nails, three buckle parts and three minie ball rounds. All ground dug items. Were all mounted on coreflute display board but have come loose. Great display lot. Items inc hand made nails, part of a Federal tunic button, half cent coin (1822), metal part from horse harness and buckle parts. All pitted and ground dug condition. Who had delivered to Fredericksburg US Army Base. 4500 Pounds of Hay, for which he received the payment of 50 Cents per hundred pounds. Signed by a Lieutenant. Grade II- $100 SWORDS 4657 GB 1796 PATTERN CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD. Curved flat backed blade with a single wide fuller. Blued half the way along the blade and engraved with a crowned "GR" cypher and 1801 Royal Crest. Much of the original gilt inlay remaining. Steel stirrup hilt with plain dove head pommel. Wire bound leather grip. No scabbard. Hard to find in Australia. A good example as used during the Napoleonic wars. Lic Req Vic. Oneside with Imperial Crown and Crossed Lances, other side with "S.A." (Gothic) "Volunteer Cavalry". Nickel plated three bar hilt (Plating lifting in a few areas particulary to underside). Original fish skin grips with wire binding show service wear, but no major damage. C/W Brown leather Sword Knot, Brown leather Scabbard with W/M fittings and a large brown leather sword frog. With straight curved blade, etched with foliate & strunged bugle crowned, 'Volunteer SA Rifles' steel nickle plated hilt (80% wear). Wire bound fish skin grip also worn. Blackened steel scabbard (dents). Yes, much age wear so Grade III+ But a RARE SWORD. $1000 4660 AUST/GB PATT 1885 CAVALRY TROOPERS SWORD. Bright blade. Light service wear to the pressed leather grips. Missing 2 studs on grip. C/w all steel scabbard. Hilt marked with Double 'D' Arrow. All metal parts inc. Impressed on back of blade "Sword of Honour Presentedto CSM E.J. ANDREWS 11 JUNE 65". C/W matching N/P Steel Scabbard. (Eric James Andrews served two tours of Vietnam with the 6th Btn. RAR in 1966 and 3rd Btn RAR in 1971. Commissioned Portsea Officer Cadet School 12 June, 1965.) C/W Service Research notes. Grade II. $950 CHINA 4663 CHINA C1900 METAL (IRON) PIKE HEAD ELONGATED DIAMOND SHAPED SPEAR POINT. Tapered shaft attachment. Part of shaft remains inside attachment area. Heavy age patina with overall light pitting. Boxer rebellion souvenir. Grade III- $290 GREAT BRITAIN 4664 GB PATT 1853 CAVALRY sWORD. 3 Bar hilt nickel plated with pressed leather grip, in VGC. N/P. Blade had light surface rust with minor pitting. Some lifting to hilt N/P. White buff leather tassel. Grade II- $950 4665 GB 1822 PATTERN SWORD. General and Staff Officers. Brass 1822 pattern infantry type hilt with QVC General Officer insignia. Fish skin grips missing the wire binding. Infantry pattern flat backed blade. Etched but toned and light pitting. Brass scabbard with two hanging rings. Old repair to the middle section and a couple of dents, also missing scabbard mouth. O/A dull appearance and would benifit from a polish. Lic reg Vic. Grade III+ $800 4666 GB 9th CENTURY SWORD Infantry pattern 1822 (modified) Queen Victoria cypher to gilt basket guard. Plain blade with flat back and pipeback near to the point/tip (11 Inches/28cms). Leather bound grips with only 45% of wire binding intact. Incomplete leather bound scabbard (the bottom brass metal tip is missing). A bend/s light fracture is evident approx. half way down the scabbard. Great display for crimean or goldfields display. Grade II- $475 4667 GB C/WW1 PATTERN 1854 FOOT GUARDS INFANTRY SWORD FOR COLD- STREAM GUARDS BY WILKINSON SWORD (HENRY WILKINSON LONDON). King George the fifth cypher to blade, along with lovely acid etched battle honours of the guards regiment. Steel scabbard with double ring hangers. Numbered 45825 to backstrap of blade. Very light wear patches to scabbard. This is a delightful example of a guards regiment sword that would greatly enhance any period collection. Handguard and handle with great condition ray skin and fully intact wire binding. Hard to upgrade. Grade II $1200* 4668 GB BOER WAR 1897 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICERS SWORD. Etched blade with "VR" cypher. Wire bound fish skin grip in good condition. C/W all steel scabbard with two hanging rings. O/A a good example. Lic. reg. Vic. Grade II- $850 GERMANY 4669 GERM WW2 Luftwaffe "Fliegerschwert" Sword hanger. Blue Moroccan leather with pebbled aluminium fittings. Bottom snap fastening marked DRGM. This sword hanger belonged to Hauptman Horst Berkermann who was shot down over the North Sea in 1942. Grade II $250 JAPAN 4670 JAP 1899 PATTERN SWORD OF A HANNIN (JUNIOR) OFFICIAL IN THE GOVERNMENT-GENERAL OF FORMOSA. Black same grip with plain brass wire binding to the grooves. Hilt fittings are gilded brass with a stippled background. Sakura shaped screw head to the top of the pommel. Engraved leaves design to either side of the knucklebow at the pommel end. The backstrap has side-ears with raised formosan "double triangle" badges on each side. There is a small folding rear guard which engages a raised stud on the reverse of the top scabbard mouont to secure the sword in the scabbard. There is a small "SA" stamped to the underside of the knucklebow. Single edged, grovved, chromium-plated blade in VGC. Black lacquered scabbard over a wood liner, few edge chips to the black finish. The three gilded, stippled brass scabbard mounts all have heart shaped "Boars Head" designs. 2 x raised suspension bands. The sword and scabbard have O/A wear to the gilt finish. Only a few examples of this sword pattern have been reported so they may be considered as rare. Grade II- $1050* 4671 JAP CIVILIAN KATANA, POSSIBLY SHOWA-PERIOD BUT MAYBE EARLIER. Tight black binding over white same. Has been rebound at some time in the past. Small strip of the same replaced. Unusual brass menuki, one appears to be a bird, the other a human figure holding onto an unidentifiable object. Blackened iron kabuto-gane and fuchi with separate copper coated brass designs partially inlaid into the iron surface. Designs appear to be a basket and maybe a sea creature, both with long interwoven thin tendrils, some of these tendrills now missing. Plain blackened iron tsuba with cut out section to either side. Brass seppa and dai- seppa to either side. Some sideways movement to the tsuba. Brass habiki with partial woven diamond shaped designs to both sides. Blade has areas of mainly very light pitting, blade edge in VGC. No signature to the tang which has two mekugi holes. Plain black lacquered wooden saya with no fittings. An unusual and nice example. Grade II- $2500 4672 JAPAN EDO PERIOD CIVILIAN SWORD MENUKI, single good quality sword menuki, size 40mm, shakudo copper with gold dots. Remains of mounting post on the back and also had red laquer character on the back, a good quality antique menuki dates to the early 1800's, Grade II+. $175 4673 JAPAN MOD 1899 CAVALRY TROOPS SABRE. Regulation pattern. Type B short size. Bright clean blade. Wood grips. Light surface pitting to all steel guard. Working locking device. C/w steel scabbard again with light o/a pitting and a ding towards the toe end. Grade II- $385 4674 JAPAN ARMY OFFICERS KYU-GUNTO PATTERN SWORD. Gilt finished brass hilt shows wear with sections of original gilt remaining. Pierced Sakura design guard with thin knucklebow Back strap engraved near pommel with a single Kadosakura. White same grip with gilt wire binding. Mekugi present. Brass Habaki. Blade & scabbard have both been re-chromed. Single suspension mount to scabbard. Blade length includ. Habaki 74cm. O/a length 94.5cm. Grade II- $1000 4676 JAPAN WW2 KAI/SHIN-GUNTO COPY. AS SOLD TO AMERICAN TROOPS IN THE PACIFIC. Brass Kabuto-Gane inscribed with Sakura, Sunrays and Anchor designs, all with stippled backgrounds. Tight, light and dark brown binding to hilt and white same and W/M Menuki with three Sakura design. Brass Fuchi inscribed with Sakura, Leaves and Diagonal stippled pattern design. 2 X brass Seppa with Leather Sword Retention Strap. Copper plated steel Habaki. Jeep spring made blade with bright finish and a couple of areas of light pitting toward the tip of the blade. Blade length including Habaki 69.5cm. O/L 96cm. Wooden Scabbard with brass Kuchi-Gane and twin brass Ashi. Black leather Scabbard Cover with four press stud button flap to top. A high quality copy showing some age. Grade II- $700 4677 JAPAN WW2 POSSIBLY ISLAND MADE SAMARAI SWORD. Tsuka (Hilt) with tight dark brown binding over brown same. Brass Menuki to either side consisting of 3 Sakura within octagonal borders. Black painted plastic Kabuto-Gane (Pommel). Brass Fuchi with an engraved Sunrays design to either side. 2 x metal seppa (one home made aluminium) & 2 x leather home- made seppa. Oval pierced Iron tsuba with a few engraved characters. Brass Habaki. Bright NCO's fullered Blade (not Numbered) with a small amount of pitting to Mune (back edge). Blade length, 704mm O/A length 940mm. Black leather covered wooden Saya (Scabbard) with single Ashi (suspension mount). Plain blackened Iron Kuchi-Gane (Scabbard Throat). Cut to leather cover part way down Saya. O/A. Grade II- $700 KNIVES DAGGERS 4678 GERM WW2 HITLER YOUTH KNIFE. Black Chequered plastic grips with HJ En & Gilt diamond. Plastic grip with cracks to either of HJ Diamond which has been glued back in place. Original thick leather buffer pad. Blade with solingen makers mark. Some wear and uneveness to tip area of blade where it appears to have been used to lever open some object. Pommel and crossguard still retain their bright nickel silver finish. Slight movement to blade tang within grip. No scabbard. Grade III+ $395 4679 ITALY WW2 SECOND PATT 1932 M.V.S.N. DAGGER FOR ENLISTED RANKS. Plain wood grips (No rivets). Cleaned bright blade with a few edge knocks to one area. C/W steel Scabbard with raised "M.V.S.N." letters, has been repainted (black). Grade II- $850 4680 JAPAN WW2 DIRK KAMIKAZE VARIATION, Showa period 6 inch blade fullered both sides, single hole tang with 4 x character signature, brass habaki, saya and handle is Ho wood with imitation bone/ivory fittings, 10 1/2 inch o/a. Hole at top of handle for neck rope. O/a a very good condition dirk of the type used by Kamikaze Pilots. Signed 'Matsumoto'. $1200 4681 JAPAN NAVAL DIRK LATE WW2 VERSION OF THE 1883 pattern.
