Australia (www.daff.gov.au) noted that the compilation of the national pest list was done after verification from all the states to ensure uniformity and this was usually compiled and updated when there was a need for a PRA by another country. The workshop was informed that the web pages are updated every time a new document (for instance, a PRA) is released.
The website (http://www.karantinapertanian.go.id/home.htm) from Indonesia was posted in their national language and English. Phytosanitary legislation is in the process of being translated into English and will be made available as soon as officially approved.
The website (http://agrolink.moa.my/pqnet) from Malaysia was presented. To a question on the responsible body for WTO notification, the representative from Malaysia replied that officers from the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry were responsible for that action.
The website (www.spsis.da.gov.ph) from the Philippines includes information drawn from WTO resources, although a small number of records covered Philippine national issues. All content were already translated in English. There are some plans for electronic certification.
The country report from Vietnam and their website (http://www.ppd.gov.vn) was also presented.
There was a suggestion to supply templates for country reports to participants well before the start of future workshops to enable sufficient preparations, in the form of standardized formats. However, there was also concern about the stifling of creativity, as some undiscovered parameter may be overlooked. The presentation of similar and repetitive material by too many countries may also cause interest to wane.
