Got there around 2:45am monday, chatted with tom a bit then met up with dave at the middle hut, fished for some bait awhile as nothing else but grunts were biting. Dave had caught a lane but tossed back to grow an extra inch.
I moved to the T about 5am to about , no snappers so I got my fair share of grunts and spots. Day break came with a couple more grunts and a sand perch. Then around 7:55 while on the phone with the wife my rod started bobbing(the fishing rod gentlemen ) then zzzzzzz fish on, had tocut the chat with the wife and concentrate on the fishing. Then after a minute of wandering what was at the end of the line, up surfaced my first 16" mutton snapper, Yippeeee. (caught it on frozen shrimp) Will post pics later.
After that things slowed down except for the bait stealers that make me wonder how the heck they can suck all the meat out of the shrimp and leave only the shell without me even feelingthem on the line
I also caught a small puffer and also a very large one beforemoving to the middle hut for some croaker action.
Got there but only managed two. I had a wonderful time and left around 10:30am.
And that all folks, till next time....... tight lines

Hit the pier this morning before sunrise. Ran into GOTFISHYFINGERS in the parking lot, nice to meet you, and no there was no Snickers involved in our greeting. Water was perfect winds 15 or so out of the south east water slightly murky and a hard northbound running current. The conditions were perfect for the spring run but someone forgot to tell the fish. I managed one spainish mackeral on a jig, a couple of croakers and occupied most of my time getting 2 dozen gogs for my upcoming Tortugas trip. I couldn't have planned the comnditions better but the fish just never showed. Maybe later today who knows. Saw a couple of guys WImberly, Tim and John soaking fleas but no pompano. Lots of summer bait i.e. small pilchards, sardines and glass minnows inthe surf but no jacks or mackeral on them. I saw a few more croakers caught and one other mackeral but overall not much happening. Oh well there is always next time.

gonna hit it tomorow morning so long as the wind keeps goin and the water has some color. Took a walk out there this afternoon. I must have just missed ya chris. Not much else going on. A few pomps started to come up as i was leaving. Dave, tim john and dean were all still out there when i left. BSed with the boys for a while and then decided to go rake some fleas for tomorow and throw a few out on the beach for sunset behind the condo. Had a few nibles and hooked one fish that was tearing drag with its tail shootin out spray on the surface directly toward bimini. To make a long story short during a run that seemed like it was going to dump my 4500 with 12 my pompono rig broke. Typical. I think it may be good in the morn so long as there is still some color.

Fishin was somewhat slow this morning despite perfect conditions. Managed some pomps, croakers, and a bunch of gogs for future use.

Went back for the evening bite and rounded out the rest of my pomp. limit. Hooked a BIG ray on a gog head. I had thoughts of cobia but when i seen it as it took me under i was much dissapointed. Still a fun fight though.
I must say even though the bite was a bit slow it was a great day at anglins with steady rod bending action, good eats, and as always good peeps. Kclancy(spelling?) also had a few nice pomps when we left. I am gonna head back in a few hours. Got big fish on my mind. Got the 9/0 rigged and ready.

Thanks bridgefisher for the sand fleas I really wanted some pompano on the dinner plate. Had a few macks smack jigs but a lot were short strikes. Anubis got some nice fish too I won't steal his glory. Water looks amazing suprised the fish aren't super thick. Goodluck everyone nice seeing/meeting everyone!

Waz up guys! Well I was there yesterday 3/1 the water was perfect and the wind too for some good fishing. I took some friends from work, they liked it, even if they din't have any luck, they had fun. but they left earlier than me. During the time that i was there i caught 3 macks and my wife caught some croackers that's all. kclancy showed up and started fishing withh bridgefisher (by the way good meeting you bridgefisher) for pompano wich he got two i believe (good job buddy) I also put out a rod with a pompano rig but i din't have any luck. That's ok at least i got to fish with some good people. By the time i left i saw englishfisher trying his luck hope he did good. thanks for the piece of chocolate tom. see yah next time.

Went to Anglins today and it was kind of slow. Fished with rooferdave, bluerunner, englishfisher and Andrew soon to be member of the fourm. Had some nice bait around the pier for a little bit but they vanished quick. After letting some cuda's having their way with me I caught a snook. Other then that nothing else Andrew got spooled by something on a live gog i had a good run on a live gog but got cut off who knows. Nice seeing everyone!

I arrived at Anglins about 3am and met up with Rooferdave who fished the T while I fished the middle hut. I must say it was cold no ras mon
The wind was blowing from N to S, so it was quite easy to cast out to the south. Caught a couple small grunts for snapper bait butI didn't hit the T till it was daybreak so back they went.
I managed to catch an undersized mutton, more grunts and a moray eel while at the middle hut. I did manage to get a sweet bite just as I was racking up to go to the T, but by the time I got the rod and started reeling in, it had already gone into the rocks and hung me up. I could still feel it on the line but I broke it off after about 15muns or so.
The T produced a small sand perch, undersized trigger and a lot of bait stealers.
08:30 Decided to call it quits and went to the middle hut again to see if the croakers were biting...... well, they were holled up just before the hut and my buddy Choi and his wife Janet were tearing them up. I quickly set up and joined the action, except there was no bites for me, while choi and Janet were catching them left right and center. Janet then gave me a live shrimp to use and that caught my first of eight croakers. Thanks again to Choi and Janet for the croakers and also thanks to the visiting family whose to sons caught and gave me their fish. (catch and release into my cooler . Thanks also to Roofer and Kclancy for hooking me up also with fish. Thanks also to all those whose names I might have forgotten... Thanks, You guys made me feel right at home.
Divots to Janet, she's a boss fisherwoman and can outfish many of the guys there including myself .
Divots also to the young lady who was out there by herself fishing in the cold(brrrr)when dave and I got there. She can handle the fishing pretty well also.
Well, keep on fishing and tight lines to all. see u all next monday.

I got there at 11:00 and left at 3:00. I never wetted a line...
I spoke with Carl and he said he was there from early AM. NO POMPS!
I had heard of fish caught off the beach early AM, but not the pier.
by gotants? » Wed Mar 07, 2007 11:45 pm DANIA
Probably the same, unless, the wind increases, not s`posed to; the current finally moves, don`t see that happening; or the wind shifts more to the southeast, maybe.
So there is hope...
When I left, the tide was half way down, the waves were starting to get bigger, and the sand was starting to silt the water. Probably the same conditions as the morning low tide, except more waves, so it might have turned on.
If you look up and down the beach from the pier, you`ll see areas where the sand pushes out. South and it`s between the second and third bouy. North and it`s about where the first car park is in JUL Park. These are probably areas of rip currents, and probably where the pomps are.
Tomorrow, I`ll be checking areas south of Hollywwod for such occurances. Time to fish the beaches if it stays with the due east wind.

had a free morning, so I stayed from 6am to 10am to fish the T, not much goin'on, kind of a slow day, nice weather, no wind, clear water, got a 8" mangrove that swallowed a whole sardine, grouper bite was pretty good, got two undersized black, a 14" and a 16" and this nice 22" gag that went back in the water to grow a couple of inches more to become a keeper, another guy on the T got a nice gag too, but he snapped the line trying to lift him up
Met roofer dave who was killing croakers near the middle hut waiting for good conditions for macks; as I was leaving wind was starting pickin' up from NE and water was becoming greenish, but had my business goin' on so I had to leave, not before having a good breakfast at the pier, nice day, up to now my biggest grouper ever

The mack bites were kinda slow but there were a good number landed between 12 and 3. Also FWC was out checking coolers.

by Rijkaard » Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:11 pm
nice to have met you janet, just sorry it was on the SLOWEST DAY EVER...not for you, you were killing croakers as usual as hell
I was on the T and i had just a couple of good screamings fishing on the bottom with sardines and ballyhoos plugs, a stuck in the rocks (my rod was flying in the water even with loose drag ) and a hook off after a decent first run, first was probably a big grouper, second who knows...
passed more time chilling out with people (good to see you jeff, when I told my italian buddy you were the guy who caught the jewfish he started lookin' at you like a martian ) than fishing, lovely day, nice weather, lots of happy families with children.
Not much to report, croakers at the middle T, very scattered macks (no more than five during the whole day) on live shrimps and live pilchards, some good size sand perches here and there, an undersized hogfish, a big french angel fish (5-6 pounds).
I'm definitely waiting for steady E-SE wind for some days, water is crystal clear, we need some colour and hopefully biting will heat up

March 11 arrived at the pier 05:00 am as usual slow day, at daybreak got to manage to catch some live bait pichard ,water is clear & no current but around 9:30 wind slowly picking up, cast live bait bum , mack is on, got to manage two mack & a lot of cut off since i'm not using wire leader & the rest is croackers & moonfish left 12:00 o'clock since got an appoinment with my accountant.

Hey Jamel13, Ken and I missed you and Choi today . Maybe next week.
I got there at around 3am caught some small grunts for bait and headed for the T, it was more windy than I expected but it was still good to be out at the pier. Caught two nice sized grunts and an undersized mutton 13" ... at around 6am.
I moved down to the mid hut around 7am(still darkish) and cast out my small rod with chicken rig about 15feet out,and was about to cast my second rod when the rod started bending. I reel in and had a double hookup of croakers but one fell off about 3/4 of the way up. I caught about 2 more, then the biting stopped.
Throughout the morning it was one here one there just enough to keep you interested .
Ken had a mack and was also trying to catch some sand perch. Saw about 4 macks landed, one with about 1/4 of its rear ens removed by a cuda . Saw spots and blue runner, there was also a school of sardines around and alot of people were catching them for bait.
Jamel13 and Choi, I passed my old score of 8 croakers, I got 9 .
The pics only shows six because I gave three to my neighbour when I got home.
All in all another wonderful day(as long as the croakers are biting
Tight lines all and see you all next week god's willing.

I fished the pier for a couples hours Wednesday night. Some guy caught about a 2.5 mango under the pier on a piece of ballyhoo and informed me that he caught 60 macs on Monday. I ended up catching one keeper mangrove and getting slammed on a small blue crab that I was fishing right after the sandbar about 1/4 of the piers distance to the T. the same Filipino guy gave me about a 6lb jack and a bonnet head for shark bait before he left, revealing his limit of pompano and mackerel in his cooler.

This is my report for Monday 19th 2007
Got there at around 4am and as usual got some valuable fishing knowledge from Tom(u can always count on him .
It was a bit cold. I stopped of at the mid hut got some bait (small grunts) and headed out to the T where I met RooferDave. He told me that he had gotten a nice 5lb grover and a blue fish and had been cut off several times in succession without even knowing . He gave me a ballyhoo to try my luck but no action.
I went to the mid hut again at around 07:30 and the pomps started biting. One guy caught a real nice one that was about 2.5lbs(guessing) on a small rod with about 6-10lb test. I lent him my home made bridge gaff and he hauled that sucker on up.
A couple more pomps came up then the action just died. The macks were biting in between as well but also shut off about half hr after the pomps. By the time I got my pomp rig set up and casted out ,the pomps just started laughing at it and hauled A$$
So I was zero for pomps and macks.

Glad you got some Jeff. Fished noon to 5 nothing for me. Helped with a snook that was so big it snapped my bridge net rope when lifting it up. It broke the hook in half when we tried to beach it. I saw about 5 undersized snook get pulled up some macks and pomps today.

I suck again. Floating live shrimp, fished the bottom, and threw lures(gotcha and bucktail). Had two hits all day(8a.m.-12:30). Both on the Gotcha. I arrived just as the Pompano came to an end. I saw a small one pulled in around 11:00 by a woman using a rented rod and dead shrimp. Go figure. A fellow next to me who was a friend of mikepbg(sorry if I got iT wrong) caught a Mack on a Gotcha. Could you expand on this statement?
I walked the pier last night. Didn't see anyone catching fish. But did get to see a cooler full of Pompano before the angler decided to leave.
Conditions seem right for Pomps, but no word of anyone catching Macs (perhaps too windy.) Also heard rumor the commercial anglers were getting frustrated with some recreational folks exceeding their bag limit, and making a big stink about it. (Probably Lomax and his buddies.)

fished from about 1 am to 9:30 am, nice warm steady east wind, water had pretty good color and current was good, first 30 minutes I reeled in 8 puffers on gogs chunks, biggest was 20 inches and looked like a basketball
then bite shut up until sunrise when it raised up a little bit, managed a mack on a live sand perch and a nice pompano around 15" on a dead shrimp. Saw about 6-7 pomps and 4-5 macks until I was there plus some scattered croakers and blue runners. Kind of a slow day, but it was nice fishing with chris (fishnfool), roofer dave and janet (jamel), all in all spent some nice hours before leaving to italy this afternoon.
See ya guys in about 20 days and leave some fish for me when I come back
Happy Easter

Went there yesterday (the 28th)and they have caught few pomps already before I arrived...It ended up me catching 5 macks and gave it to Glen from Miami Lakes...(Glad to see you and your family, man!!!) I am also happy seeing TOM - THE BOATLESSFISHERMAN with his camera....Am sorry but eventually, you'll catch me with some great catch soon for a picture taking, lol!!!
This morning (the 29th) husband and I went and found out that my dear friend BETTY is already there and caught the first pompano of the day ...I casted my line right where I always does - under the canopy! It was quite a while before I got a hit....There came my pompano!!! I immediately put in a new set of sand fleas and casted it back where I caught my first one...In a matter of 5 to 7 seconds, got my second hit...It was slow afterwards up until I left @ around 1 P.M. but I managed to have 2 pomps and 1 mack...

Fished last night from 11:30pm till about 4am.....not one bite.....it was really windy. Took a nap in the truck till 6:30am and hit the pier again. Watched pretty much everybody pull in a few macks but I had no luck.....lost three on a jig. I gotta get me a few of those yo-zuri lures. Thanks to Dave (I think that's your name) for the fishing tips.

Fishing was on the slow side this am. No shark bites predawn. A few Pomps flurried threw for a bit and some macks as well. I ended my morning with three pomps and 5 macks. Like i have said before, it was still a good morning at anglins pier and i always enjoy hanging out with familiar faces.

i never got to go last night but me and my dad went this morning. got out to the t around 6:30. there were 3 other people fishin so we casted out and my dad reeled up a small yellow tail in like 2 seconds. then puffers showed up and you just couldnt get away from them. this black guy fishin with his son came out and after a few casts they both hooked up with nice macks. they went on to catch 7 or 8 all in the 2-4 pound range. the guy was fishin with a gotcha (so was i) and his son was fishin with a white bucktail (so was my dad) and some how we only got one mack and it was short then the macks dissapeared at around 7:15. i saw nothin else caught the except a huge puffer fish. left at about 12:30
