went yesterday, 6pm to just before midnight, bait was stupid thick, ballyhoos and threadfins everywhere, after 9pm it was bluefish alley out of the T, I limited out in less than one hour (couple of 18" and all the others over 20" with biggest at 24", real bruiser) and went on catching them and giving away to others, fished just one rod all the time with regular bottom rig, 3/0 circle and 6" of wire and whatever bait you could put on the hook, at the end I also tried with a rotten shrimp just to see if it worked and I caught one as well

I didn't know that bluefish would pack up like that, was insane. They were hitting anything that touched the water, before I could even make my first crank. I tried to catch up as many as I could since I was there purely to catch bait for future trips. I personally started fishing at around 10 or 11ish, fishing all night Saturday was freaking cold. Most people bailed before the ice started forming, with JDL showing up in the middle of the night sometime. Weather.com was reporting High 40's inland, so standing on that pier must have been mid to lower 40s.\

just wanted to speak about something. alot of people know me, im not a mean person, a rude fisherman, or an a-hole, yet tonight some idiots on the T decided to cut my lines, intentionally cross my lines, and try and walk away with my rod and reel.... unacceptable. i have never been so turned off by the "feel" of the pier as i have tonight. just pathetic and sad how they ruined the day of me and my group over fish they couldnt seem to land. (mainly small blues) my friend was ticked off, i was ticked off, and our guest who we told how great the pier was, was absolutely terrified they were gonna hurt her or start a fight with us because they had already violated our property. i dont care if i get "flamed" for this, but it needed to get said. i dont think i will be wanting to goto the pier anymore. not with idiots feeling the need to threaten me and damage my property.

i was at the pier from 6-11am yesterday - pompano bite was fair to good at times... however, with all the lines in the water, every time someone brought up a pompano there was a tangle to be taken care of - it made my crew and i think that making the trip isn't worth it.

sad that so many commercial fisherman are mad all the time and the recreational fisherman just can't loosen up

last parking lot close to icw is for pier visitors, no matter if the spots are marked "restaurant only", fishermen are supposed to park there, that's what I was told at the bait shop by a friend

The parking for the pier is in the last alley on the west side, spaces facing the east, 1st 3 sections starting from the left. They are marked restaurant, and a few are blank. Most of the time, even when the pier is full, there remains a few spaces.

went out there yesterday from 5:30 to 7:00 there was nothing but a big school of jacks about 10 to 15lb or even bigger in the surf i hooked up on 6lb test and got dumped but that was it and a school of gogs were around .

Went from 1-6 today. It was pretty slow out there, but hooked up to a big runner and a perch. There were some guys out there that were slaying a school of moonies to.

Fished from 4:30a.m. till 11:00a.m with my son. Only had one hit the whole time and of course I was in the pisser so Ricky brought in the Bluefish for me. Saw maybe 5 Blues caught off the T while I was there and either a Margate or a Black Drum. Met WhoDey for the first time. Pleasure meeting you. Also good seeing Brad again and hanging out with the Italian stallion Rijkaard. The best part of the day was around 10:00 just after Ricky left a school of 4+ monster Tarpon were balling up bait and slammin' 'em hard. That continued until I left. Beautiful day with a wind out of the S.E. and clear flat seas.

was there pretty much the whole day, tons of gogs, some hoos, and sardines or pilchards where all around in the surf super small though but they were hitting the size 3 bikis. Aj's in the morning on gogs. Mack on a gotcha was landed then right before sundown this guy landed landed two pompano. And the diver flags were hitting everything we were throwing at them.

Fished from around 1:30 AM till 8ish in the morning today, with JDL coming out about 4am. Blues, and some more blues off the tee. As soon as the horizon started to get light with the pending sunrise, the blues turned off and it went dead.

Big schools of tarpon rolling around about 50 yards off the end of the pier busting the bait schools, but wouldn't eat for me. Maybe somebody had more luck after I left.

monday report

got to the pier at 8am fished till noon

pompano fishing was PACKED once again - i only saw 3 pompanos caught however the first hour i was there

fished out in the T with a buddy of mine, landed a fat mack, semi-bruiser jack.

lots of bait, not alot of macs but the ones that were caught were generally fat macks

wind is good - should be even better tomorrow

Saw the crowd on the peir and hit the beach and got one pomp in about three hours of fishing. Pretty much sucked. Went to the pier afterwards and saw a guy land a nice mackeral l on the T and got back to blues before I left. I may hit it tomorrow in the morning around 9:30am.

Yes it was nice to meet you rob. Fishing was Slowwww for such ideal conditions. I picked at the pomps. Some north current but it basically died out as the evening drew near. It was nice however to see the pilchards out there once again.Hopefully they stick around this year. Tomorow morning should be a better. I am hoping for some good current.

fished this morning from 5-8:30am. perfect southeast winds. the bluefish were hitting sporadically until sunrise, which is when the pompano hit took off. between myself, wade county beng, and lurker chris...we left with 14 keepers. some of them were pretty beefy...saw one guy catch one that looked like a rhino.

one guy, who's name i always forget, caught a tarpon probably ranging between 100-120 pounds.

I got there after you guys left and it did not stop, everyone kept asking me where my rod was, so after about an hour I went down and got my jig pole "the almighty" and after about 30 or 40 casts I had my limit so I left and went to skyline chili with Jeff "Bridgefisher" for a little snack because fishing is hard work. I will let Jeff tell you his story.

Oh saw a Springtime Bluefish went 9 pounds for sure, it would be so cool to get a run of 10 to 15 pound blues this year, I have seen it in the past so who knows.

Pomps bit well today. Lots o fish. I caught my limit then released a bunch. They really turned on on the jigs at about three in the afternoon. Coupla really nice ones in the three lb range< Surprised not see any 4 lbers. Lots of undersize ones as well which is strange for this time of year. Thats about it. Have not seen a single one of these cobes every one has been talking about being caught. At least no one has had one dead on the deck. Thats about it. I am sure some sharks are around so all you big fish boys got out there while the water is dirty.

Fished 9:30pm-3:00am, landed one pompano around midnight. Lost a nice shark, it decide it want to run paraell with the pier. Hooked up with Dave and head to the Tee. Slammed the bluefish. Nice quailty bluefish showing up on the pier. They put up a nice fight on my monster pier rod.

Pomps still biting this morning well. People got there limits in 10 to 15 minutes from what i hear. I got there a bit late. Fished for 2 hours. Caught some pomps and now i am off to work. The wind has switched to southwest so if you want some get out there quick.

fished from 6-9am today. not as productive as the last couple days, but i managed to walk away with a couple decent sized pomps. they were caught on sand fleas, but many were catching 'em on jigs. just as we were leaving, macks were being caught...no school today, so if you plan on heading there it may be crowded.

Got there around 3 am and fished til 10 am before I called it quits. 4 keeper pomps and some bluefish. Slow action on the pomps with maybe 20 or so landed all morning most in the 12 -14 inch range , strange for the spring run. Loads of nice 1 -4 lb bluefish if you were intrested in catching them . Saw some small macks coming up as I was leaving but definetly slowed down out there. It was nice meeting everyone out there today . It was crowded but not that bad ....I have seen worse . Pomps were on shrimp and on tipped jigs, blues cut bait, macks were on crappie jigs.

the winds switched today and it's out of the northeast i believe so that's why we have the blues and that's why there aren't so many pomps around. the pomps are probably stragglers from the past few days.

fished friday all night and today till four. caught a crap load of blues and lost what felt like a big ass king. it was on my friend conner's rod (live hoo on trolly at like 3:30am). it starts screaming like crazy but ofcoarse he is sleeping. the clicker wakes him up, he looks at the rod, and goes back to sleep. i run over and pick up the rod that already had a lot of line stripped. this thing was rippin a locked drag and all of the sudden nothin. it cut him above the wire cus someone didnt pick it up and it swallowed the bait too deep. crappy day saturday.

I've decided to join the fun and start posting. So, here goes...Fished from 8:30 to about midnight. Ended up leaving with an 18" Mutton. Got a hit a a live gog, but was cut off . Spent my time just east of the middle hut. I heard they were catching some blues at the T, but never made it out there. Might try again in the AM. Being a holiday, I'll have to see how it goes. i was there at the T from 12 am sat morning all the way to the late afternoon.

overnight

morning
as soon as the sun came up the big herring showed up and a school of nice jacks showed up 3 were hooked up b/w 10-15# but 2 were landed the other broke off right under the pier. the herring were there for a short time and then dissapeared. Blues were still biting but sporadicly before a huge school of 2 lbders came in and slaughtered anything in there path. they were easily sightcasted with lures. i even caught one on a doa shrimp. there were a few macks caught on gotchas and jigs.One nice mack was caught on a strip. there were a couple of screaming runs on the trollies one cutoff one dropped bait. The T got very crowded but we had our spot staked out. nice to see you fishing addict, i hope you like it!

afternoon
the rain came in after that and was basically nonstop the rest of the day. in the rain, more blues were caught. a few short muttons, and a few small sharks. it was 4 pm and it was still raining after 4 hours and there was no sign of it stopping. TIME TO GO!!!
We ended up with a crapload of blues which we then gave some away and kept a few. Can't even imagine how many we lost.

Fished this morning from 7-11a with sand fleas and sand perch. Nothing. My roomate caught a needlefish and some other dude got a baby bonefish. We took our sand perch and hit up the spillway in delray. I ended up getting a really nice snook and some other dude caught a little 24 incher. It was worth getting drenched.

fished from 11am to around 5pm
fished with a family friend and his three little kids (it was there first time fishing)
started off at the tee but there were no bait fish at all

the kids were having fun catching the assorted tropical fish on small bits of shrimp but i was craving something a little bigger to catch

moved down to just east of the hut in search of bait and started catching mohara

for the next 3 hours we had live, chunked, filleted, and butterflied mohara casted out on both sides with out a single hit!

we sat through one heavy 20min storm front and then the wind picked up nice, but still not one hit

another front came and we dipped before it got too heavy

Fished with WhoDey from about 12am to 8am. Got a few blues, but that was pretty much it. We soaked pomp heads, mackeral heads, and bluefish chunks all night into the morning without a hit .

Stopped by the peir for about 5 minutes to day on my way back to work in the late afternoon and it looked like they were biting today. I must of seen 15 fish caught in 5 minutes. Hope no one got in trouble as my buddy got checked a couple hundred yards south of the pier by the FWC and he said he said they were catching them good at the pier with a voice that hinted he was watching it from a distance just like he had my buddy. Work sucks and the bite seems good. Hope it keeps up for this weekend if I don't end up in the islands.

Yesterday
Fished from 9:30-4:15
Pompano fished for about 20 minutes, and then was told that the ballyhoo were everywhere up the pier a little ways, and they were - no pompano. I also missed two small AJs/Almaco's on a jig.
I moved to the T. They guy next to me got hit twice at around 10:30 - one fought like a ray, and dug him in, and he broke the other one off.
A little while later, I had a ballyhoo get slashed - should have had a trailer set up - lesson learned.
Slow for a while until the wind picked up out of the NE. Then the macks turned on. The guy next to me caught like 6 on a gotcha. I got a bunch of hits on a jig, but had one of the most frustrating fishing days I can remember. I missed fish after fish, including a huge mack.
I also had macks follow my baits. One followed a ballyhoo that I was reeling in. A really nice one circled the runner that I trolly-rigged, and another, smaller one followed the small moharra I trolly-rigged.
One guy caught a short mutton on cut ballyhoo.
I left at 4:15.

I got home, and decided that I hadn't had enough. I went grass carp fishing with my friend, and broke off what probably would have been the world record grass carp on IGFA 2 lb Test.

Overall, it was a really frustrating day. Fishing was good, but the catching for me wasn't. At least yesterday was a fluke thing, in terms of losing that many fish.

today.. what to say about today well tons of cudas for starters gog's snagging bally hoos decent humongo mango probably 8.lb poons swimming bonitoo breaking at the tee about 50 yrds out. water clarity. very nice for pomapno and macks and jacks not to clear not to dirty just enough to see the bottom sorta. moonfish hogfish muttons and so on were caught today. james280 pleasure fishing with you and your son hes a cool little kid. although you stole his snapper!!!! yeh james 380 caught that huge mango will post pics apon upload.

LOL Foster your typing kills me. Nice finally meeting you and the pier rat crew. I think Logan is now an unofficial member. Also nice meeting Mike44, xtheline, jamel13, MOJO, and FLDooWop. I know i'm forgetting one or two folks so I apologize.

Any ways Logan and I got to the pier at about 5:15 and started hunting for livies. I wasn't having any luck with the Gogs or various other baits so I stuck to grunts. We set up on the Tee with a mix of cut bait(frozen threadfin) and live grunts. Between probably 6 and 8 there was only one Bluefish caught. Then some time around 8 one of my baitrunners w/ a small grunt hauled a$$. Great fight and was happy to see I had just caught my first A.J. 5-7 pound range i'm guessing. Released safe and sound. Maybe 15 minutes later my other Baitrunner takes off with the cut bait. Now let me tell you when I saw this fish come up I was flabbergasted(sp.). I yelled for a bridge net and pulled up the biggest Grover i've ever seen in person. He was 24" an weighed in at Anglins at 9 1/2 pounds. Definately nice to make the Wall of Fish. After that my rods stayed quiet for the rest of the day. We left around 4:30. I saw 2 short Muttons (13" & 15 1/2") caught and released from the Tee and that was about it. Wind started out of the S.E. and ended up coming hard out of the east. Water had a nice grit to it.

It was definately nice shooting the sh.. with Doowop and MOJO. Also nice meeting all the kids in the pier rat crew as i have affectionately named them. Foster your a trip.

Was there last night from like 2am till 9am. Saw a few sporadic blues pulled. Also a decent flounder. I landed a hefty porgy on cut bait. Thats about it. Plenty of bait lrking, big threadfins, gogs, etc but no big fish. A few people got plenty of gogs and threadfins.

I ran into Rooferdave(he was slaying gogs) and met Xtheline, Chad and Dave(not sure if you guys ae members here). Thanks guys(Tommy and Dave too) for all your assistance and guidance. Specially for getting my wheels rolling again.

TODAY PLENTY OF POMPANO DIRTY WATER HIGH EAST WIND WITH RAIN SPROUTS NICE MACKS SMALL MACKS BLUES OUT THE YING YANG. 1 VERRY NICE BLUEABOUT 10-12 LBS BROUGHT TO SIDE OF PIER N POPPED.

fished from sunday morning to monday evening not much bait, some googs at the t and babie googs in the surf, sunday the water was very clear and saw a hogfish and some yellow tail caught. through the night blues where being caught and as morning came tommy got a pomp on jig so i threw a pomp jig on and jig away. i got 5 pomps which where all jigged caught a couple macks and blues non stop. the action started to die around 2pm and pomps where still being slowy caught before i started to leave i saw kenny pull up a 15 lbs jack and justin had a blue 10-13 lbs stright up and down and than got cut off left around 6 and hit the sack

Hey Cub, just got back. Total for the night: 2 short muttons, 1 big a$$ gummer, AND A FREAKIN 6" POMPANO!!! The girl next to me fishing shrimp chunks on a chicken rig caught a BEHEMOTH pomp!! You know I thought the same thing when I saw that guy eating the banana. LOL.

I was able to scrounge up some gogs, threads, and speedos to freeze for the tugas trip.

Good amount of pompano, Some small macks and a really nice one, Bluefish, Sand Perch, Blue runners. I did see undersize Muttons.

Watched a Triple tail swim by and no one noticed it swim by.

I only made an appearance a couple of times through the day so my time was limited on the pier

went to pier today , only few people fish for pomp, some left due to no action, set up my reel , first throw got nice pomp. Pomp arrived solid @ around 10:00 - 10:30 almost everybody got there limit , went home 2:00 p.m. still pomp are biting, matter of fact one guy just arrived got double header right away..

made it out today 7:45 to about 11am. Wind ese 10-15 and current going North pretty good. Landed 10 small macks, lost a big blue straight up and down on my 8lb outfit, maybe 7-10lbs on a strip of gog given to me by the roofer. Saw about 15 -20 other macks besides mine come over, two mutts and one snook. Didn't see any pomps, unless they came up before I reach there......good to be back out there. Maybe again tomorrow???

i was there from 11am to 5pm!! really slow between that time frame..no pomps...

The pomps were biting solid all day I hear thru the grape vine but by the time I took a peek it was really crowded. heard the guys that fish 5 lines and don't care where doing a few car runs and a call may have been placed to the FWC. Hit my spot on the beach and only got one from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and lost a couple also. (gotta stop leaving the rigs in the back on my truck. The tips of the gold hooks rust fast). Seems the morning bite has been good on the beach but I keep fighting with my alarm clock.

Think your right.....anyway made it out this morning just as the bite was turning off at 8:30am. Saw several pomp limits, blues and macks. Stayed till 11:30, left with 3 mini macks. Tide was begining to roll again and a few more pomps were being landed as I left....hope it picked up for those of you with more time than me. Good color water, wind se better than 15, overcast and 3-5ft seas

tom...you were right. pomps were hitting early this morning...the mild run started about 30 minutes before sunrise with solid SE winds. fished from 6 to 9 and walked away with 5 pomps and a couple bluefish.

Fished all night Till 9:00 AM. Blues overnight, Pomps turning on before daybreak, tempers flaring at sunrise, spanish macks swarming along with schools of blue from sunup and still going solid when I left. Was one of those "every other cast" mornings.

fished friday and half of today i got 10 macks, 15 blues, 6 pomps and hooked up with a nice shark and my splice got stuck in the guide and it screwed everything up. But out of all it was good fishing.

Fished from 5-12. Caught one 15" Mutton(damnit) and one blue. I wanted no part of the hysteria surrounding the Macs/Blues war. People on top of people.

I fished right along side of you. Thought I recognized the name of the company on your shirt from the forum. Chaos rod, stradic, and a chartreuse crappie jig.

It was a great night out. Started by running my usual errands on the way to the pier, meeting up with Tommy in the baithouse, chatting it up a bit about all kinds of stuff, then heading down to meet up with JDL and Whodey. Then James380 and Logan showed up armed and ready for the night ahead and the party began.

Fishing was slow over night with, only a handful of blues coming up, until a "magical time" that the BF said would bring the Pompano in. Sure enough, right on the nose at that time the first one came over the rail. Youd swear Tommy is part fish.

Well the first pomp of the night sent JDL into a frenzy, hes got the fever bad! HE hightails it to get some rigs and bait and has a pomp line in the water faster than we could blink. Whodey and I rigged up and waited. Whodey landed a few nice ones, JDL took in a few as well. But my pompano curse continues.

You see, when I was younger I used to spend summers on Hutchinson Island. I knew what a sandflea was from my days digging up the shoreline and I would always fish and use them for bait. When the pomp were thick, Id head down there with my chicken rig and fleas, cast out as far as I could, wait all day, and come home empty handed. This would happen while I watched the other guys next to me on the beach, catchin em up. The scenario was replayed last night. I could never figure it out. And still cant to this day.

Anyway, a few more of the usual suspects rolled out right as the pomp bite was getting started. Always good to see Xtheline and the others out there. Im sure there were some who are on here and I didnt know it. I was the guy in the sunglasses and the long sleeve ProGraphics Tee. Next time if you see me say hi.

The macks rolled in right at first light. I had the gotcha ready and nailed a few on the first casts. It slowed a bit but picked up again. The whole day was kinda like watching the waves, the fish rolled in an out in a constant pattern up and down the pier. Eventually I switched to the crappie jig, and that started gettin em more consistently. I ended the day with a few good fish in the cooler and invited some friends over for a fish dinner on Monday.

You'll get em next time homey. I fished the am and came back around 3:30p. A couple pomp were brought in, and lots of small macks, then it was dead till around 7p when the pomps came in thick. Me and my budy myron limited out. Good times at the anglins.

went out tonight, barely any blues pomps bit good before sundown and all night not one shark hit..apprently somebody hooked and lost a nice hammer 20min before i got there that was i was after with the rough seas afoot this whole damn weekend, but oh well, good time though as usual

Fished Anglins at sunrise today. Lots of dinker Macs. Good fishing with you guys:One more cast, roofer Dave, Get Spooled and friend, and Smitty(?) who didnt get many macs but the ones he got put ours to shame.

Rain cleared up just enough in the morning for us to have a good time.

NO POMPS!!

Fished from 6a -12p. First cast from the middle hut with shrimp caught at 151/2 mutton, had to throw it back. Once the rain stopped the Macs were hittin. It was a great day for fishing but will be better for BPS from all the lost lures and jigs that need to be replaced. I caught a nice 23 inch 3.5 lb mac on a yellow pompono jig tipped with shrimp. The other Macs were on various lures and were all 14 - 20 inches.

right after you left mr. baitwetter the macks came on again with some big fish cut offs. Glad to see schmidy land that nice fish...it almost makes up for the aggrivation of all the cut offs. Sure is a good thing the company is good as well.

I was there yesterday from 6 to 10 pm, good to have the fishing feeling back after 3 weeks, fished basically only light tackle, 10# test with a pink banana jig tipped with dead shrimp, great time, lot of action and decent haul, 5 pomps (3 around 12# and 2 over 15"), 4 smallish macks and some small size blues; had a MASSIVE hit on a big whole frozen herring, I went to check the bait after a good half an hour that it sat down and as I moved it a lil with some line taps all the hell was unleashed, went peeling drag like nothing for a good 20 seconds and it cut me off clear on 60# fluoroleader...who knows....maybe big blue or a medium size shark.
