Leap day I headed out about 4:00pm looking for the late afternoon bite w/pomps. Sat there soaking frozen fleas all afternoon to no avail. Last guys to leave were comm Mike and Carl. Well, just before dark, Carl gets a fish as do I. Then dead again. Still some light left. Sure enough, right after those guys leave, the bite got hot. First a single and then 2 doubles. I have my limit in less than 25 minutes.
Don`t fish saturday as I have some work to do, but I went in the afternoon to my northern spot to dig fleas.
Sunday, I arrive again about 4:00pm. Nothing until about 5:00, 2 fish were caught in the trough. I stuck it out where I was, just east of the sandbar. Around 6:45 the waves start breaking on the bar so I move my rod that was on top of the bar, to just outside my other two. No sooner had I set it down, and a fish was on. Three fish in 10 minutes, with a couple others around me, and it shuts off.
Moral of the story, stick to your guns, which mine was the plan of catching fish at low light. Other than that of dirty water and a falling tide.

I was there saturday night through sunday early pm, some sharks and blues at night time, a couple of good hits on bottom baits, but no hook ups, in the morning I got a MASSIVE hit on a big croc spoon, peeled line like nothing for about 30 seconds, than as I started stopping and reeling him in that B**ch cut me off clear on 60# leader, my thought is that another mack hit the lure just above the swivel otherwise the cut off would have been istantaneous.
I got a mack on a trolled hoo, paul casted my sinker one mile away on my accurate (he was probably referring at me as "tackle whore" ) and foster hooked it while I was on the phone, basically all I had to do was reeling in and flipping (nice 24 incher). Other than that I got a 4 feet trumpetfish on a live shrimp , pretty slow day even if conditions were really promising.

Anyways back to a fishing report
Started fishing at about 5.30am and got a couple of big Blues and nice size Croakers and them a few big Sand perch and than the sun creped up and I nailed a nice 3lb Pomp on a Jig and ended up getting 5 nice Pomps and a few odd ball things like a Jimmy Hendrix Skate and some other stuff.
I had a good morning and there seemed to be a good amount of fish around, I believe I went bait for a fish all the way until about 8am.
Tonight should be good and also the morning, I believe I will try to fish both.

it was a nice day to be out, good to fish with paul, the pier kids and john (deerfield regular with baitrunners armada), got some sunburn and right at the end of the day I saw a boat sinking about 400 ft from the pier on the north side, luckly no human being trace was in it.

Got to the peir at about 6am. I had planned to fish the sandbar since I didn`t have many rigs made and I know my line needs changing real bad. Well I set up and get some rods out but man o man, there`s like 30 koreans packed in that area and they are casting every which way and just plopping their rod down from where they cast, not bothering to see who`s line they crossed and place their rod in the appropriate spot.
I then move out by the comm guys but that spot is deadly. I must`ve lost $30 worth of tackle in there today.
Around 7-8, the rains came in. Not just a quick shower, but a gail for an hour and a half. I had foul weather gear, but left my boots in the work truck so my sneakers got soaked. Even an hour later, I took them off and wrung out about 4oz of water off of each sock.
When it finally cleared, the sun broke thru and it got smoking hot. I left around 1:00pm and came back around 4:00 with again, those guys crowding the sandbar.
Now don`t get me wrong, everyone has the same rights to fish there as anyone else, but man, that was a population explosion from last year of 300%. Must`ve seen 25 new ugly stiks out there.
Anyhoos, I left at dark with just one pomp in the morning and another in the afternoon.

Fished the reef line, just past the middle hut from 7pm till 11ish. Choppy water, nice color & lots of wind. Bluefish were around, several hits from them but none landed. A couple others were caught around me. Bait was there, but the 23344323 mile an hour wind made it hard to get to it.

just for everyone's info: those guys are vietnamese, not chinese or korean - and please don't say "they're all the same" - you don't wanna mess with those guys, trust me, they are tough even though they're small
but you're right GotAnts, if you're going to fish at Dania - be there early or you will have to fish amidst a jungle of rods

Fishing was good to me again today, it seemed like only the big Pomps wanted to get on my line. Limited
Saw a good number of Pomps today, highlight was watching Daniel fight a 70+ Blacktip on 15lb test and he won, also saw a Hammer swim through and every head bait that went out just after sun up got smashed and ripped, Macks where off the tee but the few fishing for them were having a hard time landing them, saw a few 5 lb Jacks come up.
Oh almost forgot Joe hook a 100lb plus Tarpon and it did 3 leaps forward, man I wish he would have won it would have made for an awesome Pic.
Hope the water stays the color it is and it will remain good fishing.

Hung out with Tommy, Keith, Herbert, and Bolo for a while. Scattered Gogs. TONS of houndies.

Sorry guys...got to change the subject. Well I was out there tuesday morning at around 3 am till later that evening around 8ish....dont ask me why I stayed that long cause I still dont know lol! I didnt fish for pompano cause thats just not fun for me, BUT IT WAS FUN TO WATCH LOL....I basically stayed on the Tee the whole time loosing as much fish as I could, there were plenty of jacks and blues in the am along with nice size greenies (small ones) but it seemed every fish that hit my rods had a free "get off the hook" pass that they kept on using lol. Well that went on thru out the entire day until right before sunset....I decided to redeem myself and play with some toothy critters, cause also thru out the day I noticed some jacks coming up missing there body lol, so I gathered up some bluefish heads from everybody, rigged up the 4/0, tossed them out and in less than a hour hooked a big A$$ gummer and two healthy blacktips......considered myself redeemed and finally left!

There must have been 10-15 people gather around before the first hut. I saw a camera crew and I thought we got ourself a movie star fishing here. Nope, it was just Tommy and the rest of the BF crew following along. The wall of pompano fisherman was quite amazing. Fished the Tee and it was slow with only small fish. Slammed the gogs also.

Fished last night from 10:30pm - 3:00am. Saw JDL and Beachbum. PA was suppose to come out but decide to sleep instead. Around 12 the wind picked up nicely blowing out southeast and water was still clear but should get a little dirty this morning. Current running strong to the north. Had a nice hit of a gog chunk and fought it it to the pier. Got the light to him and it was a nice BIG MUTTON. At this point I was lifting to flip him he got unhook and fell back to the water. I must have scream cursing the fishing gods so many times. Beachbum hooked up to a few silky sharks. That was about it.

Fished from 4am to 12 noon. Lots of gogs around while it was still dark. Got one bluefish that WhoDey caught for me while watching my rods. Set out a bluefish head on one of my shark rods at around 5am. Got a nice hit on a gog, but it ran under the pier almost immediately and cut me off.
Around daybreak the bluefish schools arrived and provided some action for a while. Fish were about 2-3lbs. Kept 1 for the table, and 1 for later shark bait. Hooked a bluefish up on a circle hook and handed it off to a kid that wasn't catching any (that honestly made my day). I also put out a live blue on one of my other shark rods. Suprisingly, I did not get a single hit on either the bluefish head or the live bluefish (and the head was out for hours).
After the bluefish action died, there wasn't much to speak of. Saw a small mac come up on a gotcha and heard of a few small macs out at the T. The ballyhoo were thick around at the T as well. Left at around noon.
BTW-there was no action on my pompano rod, which I fished from about 4am until about 11am (using both fleas and shrimp). Did not see anyone catch any pompano either.
