Slotted gratings can present difficulties for people with walking aids and those wearing shoes with pointed heels. Gullies can also block causing ponding which can be a major inconvenience to waiting passengers. 3.20 In rural locations, consideration should be given to how the passengers get to and from the stop. It is recommended that hard standings should be provided at all rural stops for people to wait on. 15
