2009 Analysis of Art, Media and Entertainment
Statewide Analysis
The number of UC approved secondary Art, Media and Entertainment courses statewide increased from 3,138 to 3,472 courses or an increase of 9.6% compared to last year. Of the 1,193 comprehensive high schools in California, 847 or 70.9% have one or more UC approved Art, Media and Entertainment courses. Presently, 47.5% of all Art, Media and Entertainment courses in the state meet University of California “a-g” admission requirements.
UC A-G Requirements
In analyzing the “a-g” admission requirements, Art, Media and Entertainment courses have been approved in the B, C, F, and G admission requirement areas. Most Art and Entertainment courses (96.3%) are found in the F-Visual Performing Arts admission area. In terms of courses approved by category, listed below are the figures:

Of the 1,193 comprehensive high schools in California, 376 or 31.5% have one or more UC approved Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses. Presently, there are 13,925 Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses offered statewide in which 4.9% meet University of California “a-g” admission requirements..
