Length of service
Limiting the terms of service may result in less qualified people serving. It is advisable to follow scripture in carefully choosing leaders, and allowing them to serve as long as they wish—provided they are fulfilling their duties.
A. Elders
Elders, overseers, or bishops all refer to the same office. Paul and Barnabas appointed elders (Greek presbuteros or English presbyter) in churches Acts 14:23). Elders were leaders in the early church (Acts 11:30; 15:2,6,23;
16:4; 21:18).

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching
