The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program trains approximately 200 students each semester to work in long-term care facilities, home health, and hospital settings, and to continue in nursing and allied health education. The curriculum includes lab instruction in a state of the art nursing laboratory, traditional classroom instruction, and hands-on clinical experiences at various long-term care facilities in the local community. Program instructors are qualified, caring individuals devoted to student success. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the Utah State Certified Nurse Assistant certification examination. The Utah Certified Nursing Assistant Registry has approved the program.
The Certified Nurse Assistant program is within the School of Nursing and Allied Health, one of five academic schools at Dixie State College. It supports other health sciences programs such as Nursing and Respiratory Therapy whosestudentsarerequiredtobeCNAcertifiedpriortoenrollmentinthoseprograms.
