Question: How do foodborne and airborne pathogens spread? Predict: How do you expect the spread of a foodborne disease to be similar to and different from the spread of a person-to-person disease? First I feel like it would be similar due to how fast the disease would spread but the way they get infected is different. Observe: Select the SIMULATION tab. Click Play and closely watch the people moving around the room. What does each person do just before becoming infected? They come across each other then they eat and drink. How are foodborne pathogens transmitted? They are transmitted through shared food and drinks. If a person in the simulation never eats or drinks anything from the buffet table, is it possible for them to become sick with the foodborne disease? Explain your answer. No, because it wouldn’t be foodborne it would’ve been person to person Analyze: Select the GRAPH tab, and wait for every person to become infected. At what time did the disease spread most slowly? Most quickly? 0 hours and 37 hours. How could you explain this change in the rate of the disease’s spread? The more people infected the less the disease can spread because people already have the disease. Download 335.71 Kb. Share with your friends: |
