Identification of requirements
All formal requirements are given a paragraph number, this allows each requirement to be uniquely identified by section number and paragraph number, e.g. § 3.1-(1). Paragraphs that are not numbered are not formal requirements these maybe introductions to a section, explanatory texts, notes or clarifying statements.

Hardware operational
requirements
This Project, the Practical Series Automation Library of software modules is predominantly a software project however, the software itself is designed to run in the S range of Siemens Simatic Controllers. As such, a hardware platform will be required to both run the software that will be developed and to provide real devices and instruments that can be used to demonstrate the developed software works correctly with commercial hardware. This hardware platform will be in the form of a
“test rig”
, that will be configurable, and reconfigurable, to provide access to different interfaces, devices and instruments for the purposes of testing and demonstrating the developed software functions. This section specifies the requirements for the control system hardware that is to be delivered under this Project.
