HENRY CAVENDER line (1788 - 1860+)
HENRY CAVENDER is said to have been born in North Carolina about 1788, although in the 1880 census, Zacharia Cavender believed to be his son, said that his father was born in Virginia (i.e., not North Carolina) and that his mother was born in Tennessee. In 1830, Henry Cavender was apparently living in Grainger County, Tennessee, and in 1850 he was living in Hamilton County, Tennessee, at which time he was listed as then being 62 years of age and thus born about 1788, his wife at that time was Rebecca Cavender who was then age 32 and thus born about 1818 (and undoubtedly not his first wife), and his children then living at home at that particular time comprised: Franklin Cavender age 11 and thus born about 1839; Marion Cavender age 8 and thus born about 1842; Bohemia Cavender age 5 and thus born about 1845; Adaline Cavender (“Adeline Cavender”?) age 4 and thus born about 1846; Zach Cavender ("Zachariah Cavender"?, "Zachriah Cavender"? & "Zachra Cavender") age 3 and thus born about 1847; Mary Cavender age 2 (“Elizabeth Cavender”?) and thus born about 1848; and Sarah E. Cavender ("Sarah Cavender" & “S.E. Cavender) age 8 months and thus born about 1850. 137

It is to be noted that Tennessee became a state in 1796 and was formed from the territory of North Carolina. Thus, Henry Cavender may not have actually moved from North Carolina to Granger County, Tennessee.

In 1860, the Henry Cavender family was still living in Hamilton County, Tennessee. At that time, he was listed as then being 76 years of age and thus born about 1784, his wife Rebecca Cavender was listed as then being age 41 and thus born about 1819, and their children then living at home at that time were: Franklin Cavender age 21 and thus born about 1839; Marion Cavender age 17 and thus born about 1843, Bohemia Cavender (female) 14 years of age and thus born about 1846; and, Zachariah Cavender age 13 and thus born about 1847.

It is believed that Henry Cavender had the following 9 children:

BENJAMIN S. CAVENDER (“Benjamin Cavender” & “B.S. Cavender”) born about 1806 in North Carolina. However, according to the death certificate of his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Cavender (Sarah Cavender” & “S.E. Cavender”), he was born in Tennesseee. In either event, he married Sarah Elizabeth Nance (“Sarah Nance” & “Sally Nance”) on December 26, 1827 in Grainger County, Tennessee, was a schoolteacher, was still living in Grainger County, Tennessee in 1830, moved to Arcola, Dade County, Missouri about 1855-1856 484 where he purchased 2 farms, and died on either March 14, 1858479 & 484 or on April 14, 1858 in Dade County, Missouri at the age of 50 years while teaching at a school located on Cedar Creek, in Dade County, Missouri. The property of Benjamin Cavender was sold on the courthouse steps on September 6, 1858 to Thomas McGuire who subsequently assigned title to Thomas J. Cavender ("Thomas Jefferson Cavender"?, “T.J. Cavender” & "Thomas Cavender") who was probably the son of Benjamin Cavender. Sarah Nance was born either about 1808 or about 1812 in Grainger County, Tennessee, was the daughter of Reuben Nance and a Roseanna or Rosanna 484, died either before 1865 or after 1858 484 in Dade County, Missouri, and is buried in an unmarked grave in Farmer’s Field Cemetery in Dade County, Missouri. According to the 1850 census, Benjamin Cavender then 44 years of age, born about 1806 in North Carolina, and then living in Hamilton County, Tennessee, together with his wife Sarah Cavender age 38 and born in Tennessee, and their children at that particular point in time were: Parthena Jane Cavender ("Parthena Cavender" & “Parthenia Cavender”?) age 19 and thus born about 1831; Elijah Cavender age 18 and thus born about 1832; Rosannah Cavender (“Rosanah Cavender”?) age 15 and thus born about 1835; Sarah E. Cavender ("Sarah Cavender" & “S.E. Cavender”) age 13 and thus born about 1837; Thomas Jefferson Cavender ("Thomas Cavender" & “T.J. Cavender”) age 9 and thus born about 1841; Henry Calvin Cavender ("Henry Cavender", Henry C. Cavender” & “H.C. Cavender”) age 7 and thus born about 1843; Mary A. Cavender ("Mary Cavender" & “M.A. Cavender”) age 4 and thus born about 1846; and, Reuben Benjamin Cavender ("Reubin Cavender", “Reuben B. Cavender”, “R.B. Cavender” & "Reuben Cavender") age 2 and thus born about 1848. According to the 1860 census, Sarah Cavender and her son Thomas Cavender and 4 of their children were listed as then still living in Dade County, Missouri. He executed his Last Will and Testament on March 13, 1858 in Dade County, Missouri. Benjamin S. Cavender and Sarah Cavender had 10 children:
