Frank Frye and Leonora Frye had 7 children: Orville Frye; Alma Frye; Ollie Frye; Ethel Frye; Pearl Frye who married a Hasting; Beatrice Frye; and, Marie Frye; Nola McMannis born about 1873; and, Milly McMannis (“Millie McMannis” & “Mildred McMannis”?) born about 1875, and married Jeff Broyles (“Jeffery Broyles”?, “Jeffrey Broyles”? & “Jefferson Broyles”?) in Barton County, Missouri. Jeff Broyles and Millie Broyles (“Mildred Broyles”) had 4 children: Byron Broyles; Delores Broyles; Zenna Broyles; and, an unknown child; SUSAN CAVENDER born on December 18, 1838, and died on April 7, 1850 when a tree accidentally fell on her; DR. THOMAS JEFFERSON CAVENDER ("T.J. Cavender", “Jeff Cavender”, “Thomas J. Cavender” & "Thomas Cavender") born either on July 5, 1841279, January 5, 1841398, or on June 5, 1841 450, 479 & 484 in Grainger County, Tennessee, first married Nancy P. Potter ("Nancy Potter" & "Nannie Potter") either on May 5, 1866279, on May 4, 1866398, 450 & 479 or on May 24, 1866484 in Dade County, Missouri, later married Mrs. Mary Jane Jones ("Mary Jones") on May 24, 1875 in Dent County, Missouri after his first wife had died and who already had 3 children of her own, 2 daughters and 1 son. Thomas Cavender attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, and possibly Medical College in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri and, after serving as a medical doctor in Company E of the 15th. Calvary in the Civil War, he moved to Dadeville, Missouri, and died on either April 4, 1890 450, 479 & 484 or April 7, 1890 in Dent County, Missouri. Nancy Potter was born in Kentucky either about 1840, about 1848 or about 1849450, 479 & 484 to Daniel Potter and Elizabeth Johnson, and died about 1872. Thomas Cavender and Nancy Cavender moved to Missouri in 1857 in a covered wagon. She died about 1872 in Dade County, Missouri from typhoid fever after eating some fish, and is buried in the Rice Cemetery. When Nancy Cavender died, her father blamed her husband for letting her die. After a short period of time after Nancy Cavender's death, Thomas Cavender left his 2 small children in the care of his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel Potter and Elizabeth Potter, to be raised and cared for and he moved to Harrison, Arkansas. Thomas Cavender sold his property in Dade County, Missouri and moved to Dent County, Missouri where he married and lived until his death. Thomas Cavender and Nancy Cavender ("Nannie Cavender"?) had 3 children: Nola Cavender born about 1869 in Dade County, Missouri, was raised by her maternal grandparents Daniel Potter and Elizabeth Potter, married Rufus Clyde Speight ("Rufus Speight") on January 1, 1890 in Dade County, Missouri, and had several children some of which died in infancy. Rufus Speight was born March 31, 1867 in Dadeville, Dade County, Missouri, died February 16, 1933 in Polk County, Missouri, and is buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, in Polk County, Missouri; Homer Augusta Alden Cavender (“Homer Alden Cavender”, "Homer Augusta Cavender", "Augusta Cavender", "Homer Cavender", “H.A. Cavender”, “H.A.A. Cavender” & "Homer C. Cavender"?) born on either May 12, 1871 or on May 10, 1871479 & 484 in Dadeville, Dade County, Missouri, was also raised by his maternal grandparents, Daniel Potter and Elizabeth Potter, married Mable Martha Tygart ("Mable Tygart" & "Mabel Tygart"?) on February 12, 1899 in Missouri, was a teacher for 18 years, died April 14, 1962 in Missouri, and is buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Polk County, Missouri. Mable Tygart was born August 30, 1874 in Bona, Dade County, Missouri, was the oldest child of Nathan Tygart and Mary Jane Cheek ("Mary Cheek"), was also a school teacher, and died September 24, 1973, and both she and her husband are buried at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Aldrich, Polk County, Missouri. Homer Cavender and Mabel Cavender had 7 children: Leon Cavender whose airplane was shot down in Schweinfurt, Germany during World War II, and who is buried in the National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri; Wilbur Potter Cavender ("Wilbur Cavender", “W.P. Cavender” & “Wilber Cavender”) born December 12, 1899 in Dade County, Missouri, attended Bolivar Baptist College and Springfield, Missouri State Normal School, lived in Springfield, Missouri as a grocer and dairyman, married Oma Watson July 23, 1922 of Walnut Grove, Missouri, and died February 2, 1960 in an automobile accident in Springfield, Missouri. Wilbur Cavender and Oma Cavender had 1 son: Leon Watson Cavender ("Leon Cavender" & “L.W. Cavender”) born October 12, 1923, attended Southwest Missouri State College, on February 24, 1944 was on a bombing mission over Schweinfurt, Germany, was shot down with his plane, and is buried in National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri; Thera Pauline Cavender ("Thera Cavender", “T.P. Cavender” & "Thora Cavender"?) born on December 23, 1902 in Missouri, graduated from Southwest Missouri State College, the University of Missouri, and the University of Illinois, was head of the Catalogue Department at the University of Iowa, and was killed in an automobile accident October 14, 1960, and buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Polk County, Missouri; Vera Helen Cavender (Vera Cavender" & “V.H. James Cunningham was born February 11, 1903 and died March 8, 1975. James Cunningham and Vera Cunningham had 2 children: Ann Lee Cunningham (“Anna Cunningham”) born November 8, 1928, attended University of Missouri and Bolivar Baptist College, married Benn Lee Campbell ("Ben Campbell") November 8, 1948, and had the following 2 children: Debra Lee Campbell born September 17, 1951, married Barry W. Haddock ("Barry Haddock") June 30, 1973; and, Linda Lee Campbell born August 17, 1953, and married Glenn J. Crotts ("Glenn Crotts") December 28, 1974; and, Helen Grace Cunningham ("Helen Cunningham") born September 17, 1931, received a degree in education from the University of Missouri, married Robert Carter July 3, 1954, and had the following 3 children: Sarah Ann Carter ("Sarah Carter"), twin to Susan Carter, born April 15, 1960; Susan Kay Carter ("Susan Carter"), twin to Sarah Carter, born April 15, 1960; and, John David Carter ("John Carter") born January 27, 1962; Ellen Marie Cavender (“Ellen Cavender”, “Ella Marie Cavender” & "Ella Cavender") born April 10, 1910 in Dade County, Missouri, received a degree in education from Southwest Missouri State College, married Clinton Normal Hall ("Clinton Hall") December 17, 1932, and taught school for several years. Clinton Hall was born June 24, 1907, was a dentist in Stockton, Missouri. Clinton Hall and Ella Hall had the following 2 children: Jo Maurine Hall ("Jo Hall") born February 7, 1936, received a degree in education from University of Missouri, married John H. Hildebrand, Jr. ("John Hildebrand") who was born February 7, 1932 and they had two children: Meeca Maurine Hildebrand ("Meeca Hildebrand") born February 26, 1965; and, John Hall Hildebrand ("John Hildebrand") born February 11, 1969; and, John Clinton Hall ("John Hall") born April 9, 1946, received a degree in business administration from Drury College in Springfield, Missouri, was in the army 1959-1962 and was in Viet Nam for 1 year; Clarence Calvin Cavender ("Clarence Cavender", “C.C. Cavender” & “Clarence C. Cavender”) born August 6, 1912 in either Aldrich, Dade County, Missouri or in Aldrich, Polk County, Missouri484, received a degree in education from Southwest Missouri State College, taught school and owned and operated a drugstore in Galena, Missouri for 13 years, married Ines Irene Summers ("Ines Summers" & “Inez Summers”) on either March 16, 1934 or on March 16, 1935 in Springfield, Missouri484, and lived in Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri. Irene Summers was born in Stockton, Cedar County, Missouri on August 15, 1917. According to the publication History of Missouri, Vol iv, page 825: “First teacher, coach and principal in the state school system, and for thirteen years a retail druggist. Clarence Calvin Cavender is now vice president of the Hammins Products Company, a firm with main offices and processing plant in Stockton, Missouri, which he manages in order to procure the oil and by-products of black walnuts for industrial use. He is descended from pioneer settlers in this part of Missouri and holds two degrees from Southwest Missouri State College. Mr. Cavender is also president of the Sac River Development Corporation and has been instrumental in securing the planned Stockton Dam, which will cost fifty-four million dollars and flood 58,000 acres of land.” Clarence Cavender and Ines Cavender (“Inez Cavender”?) had 3 children: Peggy Jeanette Cavender ("Peggy Cavender", “P.J. Cavender” & “Jeannette Cavender”) born February 14, 1937, married Glenn O. Fox ("Glenn Fox") on May 15, 1955 They divorced in 1957, were remarried March 12, 1960, and again divorced in 1962. Glenn Fox (“Glen Fox”) was born on October 2, 1937. Peggy Cavender apparently later married R.L. Hickenbottom and lived in Springfield, Missouri. Glenn Fox and Peggy Fox had 3 children: Carol Marlene Fox ("Carol Fox") who was born December 27, 1955, attended Southwest Missouri State University, and married Kurt Andrew Siems ("Kurt Siems") February 21, 1976 and who was born September 19, 1955. She later married Carl Robert Haraldson March 21, 1958 and who was born September 10, 1932, and was divorced in 1959. Carl Haraldson and Carol Haraldson had a daughter named: Karen Irene Haraldson who was born December 26, 1958; Karen Fox; and, Glenna Fox; and, Dwight Burnell Cavender ("Dwight Cavender" & “D.B. Cavender) born March 17, 1938 in Aldrich, Missouri, received a degree in architecture at Kansas University, received another degree in area planning at Kansas State University married Charlotte Ann Horton ("Charlotte Horton") March 26, 1959 and who was born August 30, 1939, and had 3 children: Lisa Lynn Cavender ("Lisa Cavender" & “L.L. Cavender”) born either June 4, 1965 or on July 4, 1965; Allison Ann Cavender ("Allison Cavender" & “A.A. Cavender”) born November 11, 1972; and, Kimberly Kay Cavender ("Kimberly Cavender" & “K.K. Cavender”) born July 22, 1975; and, Herbert Harold Cavender ("Herbert Cavender" & “H.H. Cavender”) born October 13, 1914 in Dade County, Missouri, married either Lavern Laeger (“Laverna Laeger”) or Lavern Sisal484 on April 26, 1946, and died October 15, 1966 of leukemia. He received a degree in education at Southwest Missouri State College, and served in the military 1941-1945. Herbert Cavender and Laverna Cavender had 4 children: Richard Alan Cavender (“Richard Sisal Cavender”?, “R.A. Cavender” & "Richard Cavender") born July 10, 1941 and married and divorced Bonnie Bonnersback. Richard Cavender and Bonnie Cavender had one child named: Kimberly Jean Cavender (“Kimberly Cavender” & “K.J. Cavender”) who was born June 22, 1962. He later married Judy Lucille Hughes ("Judy Hughes") June 7, 1969. Judy Hughes was born May 3, 1947 and received a degree in special education from the University of Missouri, and a degree in education from Central Missouri State. Richard Cavender received degrees in economics from the Southwest Missouri State University and from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri. Richard Cavender and Judy Cavender had 2 children: Laura Suzanna Cavender ("Laura Cavender" & “L.S. Cavender”) born May 14, 1974; and, Daniel Alan Cavender ("Daniel Cavender" & “D.A. Cavender”) born April 8, 1976; Mary Margaret Cavender ("Mary Cavender", “M.M. Cavender” & “Mary M. Cavender”) born December 11, 1946, received degrees in education from Southwest Missouri State University and Drury College and, married Jerry Bruce Boyer ("Jerry Boyer") June 14, 1969. Jerry Boyer was born February 10, 1942 and received degrees in education from Southwest Missouri State University and Missouri University. Both are teachers in the Springfield, Missouri school system; Martha Louise Cavender ("Martha Cavender" & “M.L. Cavender”) born September 14, 1948, received a degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University, married Ronald Glenn Firestone ("Ronald Firestone") October 12, 1968, and had 2 children. Ronald Firestone was born July 10, 1947 and received a degree in sociology. The 2 children of Ronald Firestone and Martha Firestone were: Mary Ellen Firestone ("Mary Firestone") born May 27, 1969; and, Nathan Alexander Firestone ("Nathan Firestone") born August 21, 1972; and, David Paul Cavender ("David Cavender" & “D.P. Cavender”) born May 9, 1956, and presently attending Southwest Missouri State University and seeking a degree in agronomy; 365 and, Vernon Cavender who died young; Thomas Jefferson Cavender ("Thomas J. Cavender” & “Thomas Cavender") and his second wife, Mary Cavender, had 6 children: Lula Cavender born June 7, 1876; Hattie Cavender (“Harriett Cavender”?) born September 11, 1878; Nora Cavender born May 23, 1884; Maud Cavender ("Maude Cavender"?) born October 22, 1886; Vernon Cavender born July 15, 1888 (It is to be noted that a Vernon Cavender married Dixie Willis, the daughter of Emmett Jo Willis ("Emmett Willis" & "Joseph Willis"?) and Effous Wolfe, and that Emmett Willis and Effous Willis had a daughter by the name of: Maria Cavender Willis (“Maria Willis”) who married Clarence London, and that Clarence London and Maria London had 4 children by the names of: Amy London; Chris London ("Christopher London"?); Mark London; and, Heath London; and, Amner Cavender born September 22, 1889; REV. HENRY CALVIN CAVENDER ("Henry Cavender", “H.C. Cavender”,“Henry C. Cavender” & "Cal Cavender") born on June 30, 1843 in Grainger County, Tennessee, migrated to Missouri in the mid 1800's, married Sarah Elizabeth Patton (“Sarah Patton” & “Betty Patton”) from Tennessee and who was the sister of Becky Barksdale and Mary Wells, and lived in Salem, Dent County, Missouri. He enlisted in the calvary of Company E, Smith Regiment, 6th. Missouri Volunteers November 1, 1861 and was discharged in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri on November 1, 1864 and was paid a bounty of $100. After his discharge, the family moved to Howes Mill, Missouri, later they moved to a farm in Doss, Missouri where he practiced horseback circuit ministry in the Holiness faith throughout Dent County, Missouri and the surrounding area. In 1890, the Henry Cavender family moved to Salem, Dent County, Missouri, died on January 15, 1915 in Salem, Dent County, Missouri at the age of 72-73, and is buried in the Miner Cemetery in Dent County, Missouri. Elizabeth Cavender was born on December 16, 1845 in Missouri, was an invalid for her last 28 years, lived in her home in Salem, Missouri until her last years, died in the home of her son on January 22, 1930, and is buried with her husband in Miner Cemetery. Henry Cavender fought in the battle of Pilot Know, Missouri on September 27, 1864. After his discharge, the Henry Cavender family moved to Howes Mill, Missouri with their only child, William Jefferson Cavender ("William Cavender"). They later moved to their farm in Doss, Missouri and remained for many years while Henry Cavender practiced horseback circuit ministry in the Holiness Faith throughout the Dent County, Missouri area. Henry Cavender and Sarah Cavender (“Elizabeth Cavender”) had 2 children: William Jefferson Cavender (“William J. Cavender”, “W.J. Cavender” & "Uncle Bill") was born December 12, 1864 in Missouri, married Mary Dasho Burden (“Mary Dasho”) who was born in October 1874 in Iowa. About 1890, William Cavender brought his wife back to Dent County, Missouri to the farm of his parents at Doss, Missouri and they united with the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Doss, Missouri. William Cavender operated lumber mills in Dent County, Missouri, Reynolds County, Missouri, and in Washington County, Missouri. During the 1930's, William Cavender lost all of his holdings. It is to be noted that he may be the same William J. Cavender (“William Cavender” & “W.J. Cavender”) who married W.H. Nancy Lynch in Jefferson County, Illinois. William Jefferson Cavender ("William Cavender") and Mary Burden Cavender (“Mary Cavender”) had 11 children: Lela Cavender born in March 1891 in Oregon and later lived in California; Lola M. Cavender ("Lola Cavender" & “L.M. Cavender”) born in September 1893 in Missouri; Birtia Cavender ("Bertha Cavender"?); Hattie Cavender (“Harriett Cavender”?) who lived in St. Francois County, Missouri and who married Walter Woods. Walter Woods and Hattie Woods had 4 children: Bernadine Woods of Palm Springs, California; Jachie Ray Woods ("Jackie Woods") of San Diego, California; Birtia Woods who married a C.R. Copeland. C.R. Copeland and Birtie Copeland (“Bertha Copeland”?) had 7 children: Charles Copeland; LeRoy Copeland; Edwin Copeland ("Dag Copeland"); Mary Lee Furry Copeland ("Mary Copeland"); William Winston Copeland ("William Copeland"); Clyde Ray Copeland ("Clyde Copeland"); and, Cora Sue LaPlant Copeland ("Cora Copeland"), all of St. Francois County; Missouri; and, Gladys Woods who married Virgil Gant. Virgil Gant and Gladys Gant had 3 children: Charles Gant; William Gant; and, Stanley Gant, all in the lumber business in Otterville, Missouri; Myrtle Cavender; Virginia Cavender; Zola Cavender born about September 1895 in Missouri; Viola Cavender born in January 1898 in Missouri, grew up in Doss, Missouri, moved to Baker, Oregon when he was 20 years of age, married a Mary Dosh Burden ("Mary Burden") in Baker, Oregon who was only 15 years of age. Mary Burden was born in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew Burden and Mary Burden (formerly "Mary Johnson"), traveled in a covered wagon to Oregon when she was 5 years of age, and died May 5, 1954, a few months before her father.
