Michael John Williams (born 1930) [Epsom College 1943-1948. head prefect. Rugby XV. Captain of Cricket XI. Brande, Pendlebury Greek and Martin Prizes] was the son of Dr H. K. Williams, of Basingstoke, Hampshire, and brother of Dr Richard Hugh Williams [Epsom College 1949-1954]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Basingstoke, Hampshire.


JOHN ANTHONY CHARLTON TERRY (born 1930). M.B., B.Ch. (Dublin), B.A.O., F.R.C.G.P.

John Anthony Charlton Terry (born 1930) [Epsom College 1944-1948] was the son of Dr W. R. Terry, of Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. He received his medical education at the Adelaide Hospital, Dublin, and went into general practice at Newport, Isle of Wight, where he was the Assistant Course Organiser (Vocational Training Schemes) for the Wessex Regional Hospital Authority, and an Examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners.


ARNOLD DAVID ROBERT GOODLIFFE (born 1930). B.A., M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arnold David Robert Goodliffe (born 1930) [Epsom College 1943-1949. prefect. Piper Memorial Prize] was the son of Dr R. V. Goodliffe, of Worcester Park, Surrey. He received his medical education at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He went into general practice at Sutton, Surrey. He was a member of the Sutton and Cheam Medical Society.


KENNETH JOHN INNES FINLAYSON (1930-2005). M.B., B.S. (Lond.).

Kenneth John Innes Finlayson (1930-2005) [Epsom College 1943-1949] was the son of Dr K. M. Finlayson, of East Dulwich, South London, and brother of David George Macdonald Finlayson [Epsom College 1951-1953]. He received his medical education at the Westminster Hospital, and went into general practice at Newport, Isle of Wight, where he was also Clinical Assistant in the Department of Dermatology, Isle of Wight Group Hospitals. He previously served as a Captain in the R.A.M.C.


JOHN GARETH MARSHALL WILLIAMS (born 1930). M.B., Ch.B. (Liverpool), D.P.H. (Eng.), M.F.C.M.

John Gareth Marshall Williams (born 1930) [Epsom College 1945-1949] was the son of Dr W. E. Williams, of Penmachno, Bettws-y-Coed, Denbighshire. He received his medical education at Liverpool University, and was appointed Senior Clinical Medical Officer for the Clwyd Health Authority. He was previously Medical Officer of Health for Llangollen U.D., and Wrexham and Ceiriog R.Ds.


BARRY COLVILLE (born 1930). M.B., B.S. (Durham), F.R.C.G.P.

Barry Colville (born 1930) [Epsom College 1944-1948. Smith-Pearse Botany Prize] was the son of Dr E. T. Colville, of Bridlington, Yorkshire. He received his medical education at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and Durham University. He went into general practice at Leeds, Yorkshire, and was a Clinical Assistant for the Leeds West Hospital Authority. He was a Tutor and General Practice Trainer at the University of Leeds.


ROBERT WILLIAM CLARK (born 1930). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G., F.R.C.G.P.

Robert William Clark (born 1930) [Epsom College 1944-1948] was the son of Dr Willoughby Adams Clark, of Harley Street, London [Epsom College 1918-1925]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Bedford.


NIGEL St CLAIR GAINER (born 1930). M.B., B.S. (Lond.).

Nigel St Clair Gainer (born 1930) [Epsom College 1944-1948] was the son of Dr Eric St Clair Gainer, J. P., of Thrapston, Northamptonshire. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Thrapston, Kettering, Northamptonshire, where he was the local Treasury Medical Officer. He was a member of the Kettering and District Medical Society. He completed his National Service in the R.A.M.C.


ALFRED JAMES GRAHAM GRIFFIN (born 1930). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Alfred James Graham Griffin (born 1930) [Epsom College 1944-1948] was the son of Dr A. J. B. Griffin, of Worcester. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and went into general practice at Feltham, Middlesex. He served previously as a Flight Lieutenant in the R.A.F. Medical Service.


JOHN ALFRED STEVENS (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G, M.R.A.C.G.P.

John Alfred Stevens (born 1931) [Epsom College 1943-1949. prefect. Rugby XV] was the son of R. H. Stevens, surveyor, of Banstead, Surrey, and brother of Michael Leonard Stevens [Epsom College 1937-1939]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into practice at Ulverstone, Tasmania, Australia. He was previously Senior House Officer (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) at the Stamford and Rutland Hospital.



WILLIAM DAVID HILTON PARRY (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.).

William David Hilton Parry (born 1931) [Epsom College 1945-1949] was the son of Dr W. H. Parry, of Caernarvon, North Wales. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital, and went into practice at Tocumwal, New South Wales, Australia, and later at Blackwood, South Australia. He was previously Senior House Officer (Neurology) at St George’s Hospital.


JAMES ALAN BENTLEY CRAWFORD (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.I.H. (Eng.), M.F.O.H.

James Alan Bentley Crawford (born 1931) [Epsom College 1945-1950. prefect. Smith-Pearse Natural History Prize] was the son of Dr W. J. Crawford, of Denham, Buckinghamshire, and brother of Dr William John Dermid Crawford [Epsom College 1950-1954]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Temple, near Marlow, Buckinghamshire. He was also a Group Medical Adviser for Mobil-UK.


FRANCIS DURAN (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Durham).

Francis Duran (born 1931) [Epsom College 1943-1948] was the son of José Duran, company director, of Banstead, Surrey. He received his medical education at Durham University, and went into general practice at Newcastle (1959-1995), where he was also the Medical Officer for the Child Welfare Clinic, Newcastle. He was a member of the North of England Medico-Legal Society, and previously a Clinical Assistant in the Gynaecological Research Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. He also completed a short service commission in the R.A.F. (1955-1956).


GEOFFREY JOHN JEWELL (born 1931). B.A., M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Geoffrey John Jewell (born 1931) [Epsom College 1944-1949] was the son of C. E. Jewell, assistant manager of a bank, of Epsom. He received his medical education at Jesus College, Cambridge, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He went into general practice at Wigston, Leicestershire.


BARRY REID WHEELER (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Barry Reid Wheeler (born 1931) [Epsom College 1944-1949] was the son of Dr A. R. Wheeler, of Corsham, Wiltshire. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Brondesbury Park, North London.


JOHN ALFRED STEVENS (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.A.C.G.P.

John Alfred Stevens (born 1931) [Epsom College 1943-1949. head prefect. Rugby XV] was the son of R. H. Stevens, surveyor, of Banstead, Surrey, and brother of Michael Leonard Stevens [Epsom College 1937-1939]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice in Kent, before moving to Tasmania, where he joined a general practice at Ulverstone. He served previously in the R.A.F. in Malta.


PETER FISHER CAMERON (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Peter Fisher Cameron (born 1931) [Epsom College 1944-1949. Smith-Pearse Botany Prize] was the son of Dr R. A. Cameron, of Falmouth. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Portsmouth, Hampshire. He undertook National Service as a Surgeon Lieutenant in the R.N.V.R.


JOHN ALLINGTON MOSS (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.).

John Allington Moss (born 1931) [Epsom College 1944-1949] was the son of Dr B. A. Moss, of Westminster. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Knowle, Bristol.



JOHN BRYN THOMAS GRIFFITHS (1931-2010). M.B., B.Ch. (Wales), M.R.C.G.P.

John Bryn Thomas Griffiths (1931-2010) [Epsom College 1944-1949] was the son of Dr T. A. Griffiths, J. P., of Brynsiencyn, Anglesey. He received his medical education at Cardiff University Medical School, and went into general practice at Brynsiencyn, Anglesey, where he was also Clinical Assistant (Geriatrics) at the Druid and Cefni Hospitals, Llangefni, and previously House Physician (Professorial Medical Unit), at Cardiff Royal Infirmary. He was Chairman of the Gwynedd Local Medical Committee and the North Wales Division of the British Medical Association.


ROBERT JAMES HUNTER (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.).

Robert James Hunter (born 1931) [Epsom College 1943-1949. head prefect. Captain of Rugby XV. Cricket XI. Hodgkin and Watts Biology Prizes] was the son of Dr Frederick Hunter, of Aberdeen, and brother of Frederick George Hunter [Epsom College 1944-1951], and Dr Donald McAllan Hunter [Epsom College 1949-1955], He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Thurmaston, Leicestershire. He previously served in the R.A.M.C. in Malaysia.


JACQUES MAURICE LAURENT (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.A. (Eng.), D.R.C.O.G., M.R.C.G.P., D.I.H. (Soc.Apoth.).

Jacques Maurice Laurent (born 1931) [Epsom College 1944-1950. prefect] was the son of Dr L. J. M. Laurent, of West Wickham, Kent. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Chorleywood, Hertfordshire. He was a Medical Assistant (Anaesthetics) at High Wycombe Hospital, Clinical Assistant (Anaesthetics) at the Amersham and Harperbury Hospitals, and a member of the Faculty of Anaesthetics of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was previously a Surgeon Commander in the Royal Navy.


ANDREW JOHN ARMOUR (born 1931). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Andrew John Armour (born 1931) [Epsom College 1945-1949. Rugby XV] was the son of Dr George Armour, of Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, and brother of Iain George Armour [Epsom College 1947-1950]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire. He was a member of the British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis.


ALEXANDER JOHN SHAW (born 1932). B.A., M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.).

Alexander John Shaw (born 1932) [Epsom College 1943-1950. Rugby XV. Smith-Pearse Botany Prize] was the son of Dr I. A. Shaw, of St Austell, Cornwall. He received his medical education at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and King’s College Hospital. He went into general practice at Ifield, near Crawley, Sussex.


JOHN MOUNTFORD SPENCE (born 1932). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

John Mountford Spence (born 1932) [Epsom College 1945-1951] was the son of R. A. Spence, publisher, of Horley, Surrey. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Brill, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. He was British Universities Cross Country Champion, and a member of the University of London Athletics Team, as well as the British Orienteering Team.


COLONEL GORDON SOMERVILLE (born 1932). R.A.M.C., M.B., Ch.B. (Glasgow), D.T.M. & H. (Eng.).

Gordon Somerville (born 1932) [Epsom College 1945-1950] was the son of Dr C. L. Somerville, of Leicester. He received his medical education at Glasgow University. He was Commandant of the Medical Headquarters, Powys, Wales, and previously Senior Medical Officer at the Headquarters, British Forces, Belize. He was also Regimental Medical Officer for the 6th Queen Elizabeth’s Own Gurkha Rifles, and Lieutenant Colonel in the R.A.M.C. attached to the 2nd Battalion, Queen’s own Gurkha Rifles.


PETER STAFFORD WELCH (born 1932). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Peter Stafford Welch (born 1932) [Epsom College 1946-1950] was the son of F. S. Welch, education officer, of Ealing, West London. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Dover, Kent.


DAVID HENRY WHYTE-VENABLES (born 1932). M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.).

David Henry Whyte-Venables (born 1932) [Epsom College 1946-1951] was the son of Dr H. A. Whyte-Venables, of Pulborough, Sussex, and brother of Francis Thellusson Whyte-Venables [Epsom College 1941-1944]. He received his medical education at Queen’s College, Cambridge, and St George’s Hospital. He went into general practice at Hampton, Middlesex. He was previously Resident Obstetric Assistant at Kersley Hospital, Coventry.

John Michael Llewellyn Jones (born 1932) [Epsom College 1946-1951. prefect. Cricket XI. MacFarlane Cup] was the son of Dr E. G. Jones, of Pontyclun, Glamorgan, and brother of Geraint Alan Jones [Epsom College 1947-1952]. He received his medical education at Clare College, Cambridge, and the London Hospital, and went into general practice at Pontyclun, Glamorgan.

Geoffrey Richard Bonner-Morgan (born 1932) [Epsom College 1946-1950. prefect. Rugby XV] was the son of Dr Wynn Rowland Watkin Bonner-Morgan, of Cardiff, and brother of Dr Martin Giles Bonner-Morgan [Epsom College 1950-1954]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Stoneleigh, Epsom, Surrey.

John Beresford Reynolds (born 1932) [Epsom College 1947-1951. prefect] was the son of Dr Joseph Reynolds, of Newport. He received his medical education at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and Charing Cross Hospital. He went into general practice at Denton, Northamptonshire.

Arnold George Day (born 1932) [Epsom College 1946-1949] was the son of Dr George Day, of Norwich, and brother of Thomas Michael Day [Epsom College 1949-1954]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice in Norwich, Norfolk.

Michael John Lavine (born 1932) [Epsom College 1945-1951] was the son of Dr Louis Lavine, of Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Kirk Ella. He previously served as a Lieutenant in the R.A.M.C.


JOHN RUSSELL CARLING (born 1932). B.A. (Cantab.), L.M.S.S.A.

John Russell Carling (born 1932) [Epsom College 1945-1950] was the son of Dr W. R. Carling, of Alton, Hampshire, and brother of Dr William Hugh Carling [Epsom College 1939-1943]. He received his medical education at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and Guy’s Hospital. He went into general practice at The Health Centre, Fareham, Hampshire. He was previously a Captain in the R.A.M.C.


THOMAS MANSFIELD SINCLAIR (born 1932). M.B., B.Ch. (Dublin), B.A.O., L.A.H. (Dublin).

Thomas Mansfield Sinclair (born 1932) [Epsom College 1945-1950] was the son of Dr Wilfred Sinclair, of Belfast, and brother of Charles Richard Sinclair [Epsom College 1948-1952]. He received his medical education at Trinity College, Dublin, and went into general practice at the Waterside Health Centre, Londonderry, Northern Ireland.



FREDERICK GEORGE HUNTER (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.).

Frederick George Hunter (born 1933) [Epsom College 1944-1951. prefect. Rugby XV. Cricket XI. Watts Biology and Murray-Wilson Prizes] was the son of Dr Frederick Hunter, of Aberdeen, and brother of Dr Robert James Hunter [Epsom College 1943-1949]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Eastbourne, Sussex. He was previously a Medical Officer in the Colonial Medical Service, working in Nigeria.


TREVOR GARTH SHANKERLAL ZUTSHI (born 1933). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G., M.R.C.G.P.

Trevor Garth Shankerlal Zutshi (born 1933) [Epsom College 1947-1952] was the son of Lambodhar Zutshi, mining engineer, of Kashmir, India, and brother of Derek Wyndham Hariram Zutshi, Chairman of Convocation, Bristol University [Epsom College 1946-1948]. He received his medical education at Leeds University, and went into general practice at Addington, near Maidstone, Kent. He was a member of the North West Kent Postgraduate Medical Association.


DAVID WILLIAM McNAIR JOHNSON (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

David William McNair Johnson (born 1933) [Epsom College 1946-1951] was the son of Dr E. W. Johnson, of Bridlington, East Yorkshire. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Bridlington, Yorkshire.


DAVID BESWICK LLOYD (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

David Beswick Lloyd (born 1933) [Epsom College 1946-1951] was the son of Dr D. T. Lloyd, of Llanelly, South Wales. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Bath. He was President of the Clinical Society of Bath, President of the Bath Division of the British Medical Association, and previously a Clinical Assistant at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He completed his National Service as a Captain in the R.A.M.C.


ALASTAIR CREE MacLEAN (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.T.M. & H. (Lond), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Alastair Cree MacLean (born 1933) [Epsom College 1947-1952. Rugby XV] was the son of Dr William MacLean, of Manchester, and brother of Neil Alexander MacLean [Epsom College 1944-1948]. He received his medical education at the Westminster Hospital, and went into general practice at Thetford, Norfolk. He was previously a Major in the R.A.M.C.


CHARLES DAVID GASCOIGNE LEE SHIMMIN (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Charles David Gascoigne Lee Shimmin (born 1933) [Epsom College 1946-1951. prefect] was the son of Dr H. L. Shimmin, of Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and was appointed Assistant Physician and Assistant Anaesthetist at the Warrnambool Base Hospital, Warnambool, Victoria, Australia. He previously served in the R.A.M.C. at the British Military Hospital, Kirrara, Malaysia.


GRIFFITH JOHN KEITH GREENLAW (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Griffith John Keith Greenlaw (born 1933) [Epsom College 1947-1950] was the son of Dr William Greenlaw, of Bury, Greater Manchester. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital. He was appointed Psychotherapist at St David’s Hospital, Carmarthen, Wales, and Head of Psychotherapy for the Derwen NHS Mental Health Trust, Dyfed, Wales. He was a member of the Association of Psychoanalytical Psychotherapists.


COLONEL ROBERT HUGH McKEITH (born 1933). O.B.E., M.B., B.S. (Lond.), L.M.S.S.A., D.T.M. & H. (Eng.).

Robert Hugh McKeith (born 1933) [Epsom College 1946-1951. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr M. H. McKeith, of Aldershot. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospitaland joined the Army Recruitment and Liaison Staff, London, as a Medical Officer. He was Captain of the Great Britain Rifle Team.

Hamilton Nat Young (born 1933) [Epsom College 1946-1951] was the son of Dr H. B. Young, of Hatfield, Hertfordshire. He received his medical education at Glasgow University, and went into general practice at Bridlington, Yorkshire.


DONALD ARTHUR RICHARDSON (born 1933). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), F.R.C.G.P., D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Donald Arthur Richardson (born 1933) [Epsom College 1946-1951. Dr Cunning Essay Prize] was the son of C. E. Richardson, shipbroker, of Banstead, Surrey. He received his medical education at the Westminster Hospital, and went into general practice at St Albans, Hertfordshire, where he was also Medical Adviser for N.H.S. Direct, of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. He was Treasurer of the the Cameron Fund [a medical benevolent charity that supports general practitioners].

Ian Anthony Hunter (1933-1995) [Epsom College 1945-1951] was the son of Dr J. W. Hunter, of Lowestoft, Suffolk, and brother of Dr Donald McAllan Hunter [Epsom College 1949-1954]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Emsworth, Hampshire.

Michael James Allan (born 1933) [Epsom College 1947-1951] was the son of Dr W. H. Allan, of Southsea, Hampshire, and brother of Dr Julian Richard Allan [Epsom College 1948-1952], and Dr David John Allan [Epsom College 1952-1955]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice in Andover, Hampshire (1965-1992). He was previously G.D.M.O., R.A.M.C., seconded to the Royal Nigerian Army (1959-1962), and served in the British Military Hospital, Hanover from 1963-1965.

Robert Allan Gould (born 1933) [Epsom College 1945-1951. Ann du Bois Prize] was the son of Dr A. D. Gould, of Penarth, South Wales. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Cowplain, Waterlooville, Hampshire. He was previously Resident Medical Officerat the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street (Country Branch), Tadworth, Surrey.

Nicholas Keith Leiper (born 1934) [Epsom College 1947-1952. Mrs Major Geography, Cunning Essay and Crawfurd Empire Essay Prizes] was the son of Dr Harold Leiper, of Bury, Greater Manchester. He received his medical education at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and King’s College Hospital. He went into general practice at Southampton, and was Senior Lecturer in Primary Medical Care at Southampton University. He was previously a Medical Officer in the Uganda Medical Service.


JOHN KENDALL SMALLSHAW (born 1934). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

John Kendall Smallshaw (born 1934) [Epsom College 1947-1952] was the son of Dr J. K. Smallshaw, of Epsom Downs, and brother of Martin James Smallshaw [Epsom College 1950-1953], and Richard Courtney Smallshaw [Epsom College 1950-1954]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Woodmansterne, Banstead, Surrey. He was also Medical Officer for the Royal Alfred Seamen’s Society, Banstead Place, Queen Elizabeth Foundation, and a member of the Sutton and District Medical Society.


IAN ANGUS GRAEME WESTON (born 1934). M.B., Ch.B. (Edin.).

Ian Angus Graeme Weston (born 1934) [Epsom College 1947-1952] was the son of Dr A. H. Weston, of Greenford, Middlesex, and brother of Roy Clayton MacDonald Weston [Epsom College 1951-1953]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University. No further details found.


BRYANT WILLIAM MAITLAND (born 1934). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.Obst.R.C.O.G.

Bryant William Maitland (born 1934) [Epsom College 1947-1952] was the son of W. G. Maitland, company secretary, of Cheam, Surrey. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Walsham-le-Willows, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. He was previously Medical Director of the Suffolk Family Health Authority.
