The Military Order of the World Wars

GREATER BOSTON CHAPTER

TOUR OF THE BOSTON COAST GUARD BASE 18 MAY FROM 0930 TO 1500 (APPROX.)

Thanks to the invitation of CAPT Claudia Gelzer, Captain of the Port of Boston and Captain of Coast Guard Sector Boston, a recent speaker to the Chapter, all companions will have the opportunity to tour the Coast Guard Base on Atlantic Avenue, Boston. The entrance is opposite to the intersection with Hanover Street. In addition to touring Coast Guard Station Boston (including the command center), we will also have a tour of the 270’ Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba and have a trip into the harbor on a fast response boat, the 87’patrol boat Coast Guard Cutter Flying Fish. [Please note that the two ships are not handicapped accessible, nor are they able to accommodate visitors who are handicapped.]
Please plan to arrive at the base at 0930. Parking is available on the base. Casual attire should be worn, chinos, open collar shirts, jackets, practical shoes, all appropriate for the weather and with the notice that there will be a harbor cruise and that it is often quite chilly offshore that time of year. The event is expected to conclude about 1430 to 1500. Lunch has been arranged in the Wardroom, and we are working towards an arrangement to provide it at a modest cost (further details will be forthcoming).
