Les Halles - Paris

Something similar to mean as a village commune in a macro sense or exclusive fine accommodation in a micro sense, ironically, the Les Halles has not a very reputable name due to its tendency to plunge the visitors into institutionalized pet vices., like the toilet papers that are made of € 1000 notes. However, the other side of it is that it is over flown with tourists who flock to its shopping areas. Spread between the first and second arrondisssements, the reasons for the flocking of tourists are obvious. One can find stylish and yet cheaper fabrics. It could also satiate the excessive desires of shoe lovers. The streets that surround the area are a perfect place for the urban wanderers who at the same time are aesthetic. Of particular interest to American visitors is the Onion soup served at the Les Halles in trendy bars. From its old market place, Les Halles has come a long way by transforming into a 46000 sq meter complex containing anything you name from shops to discos to restaurants and cinemas.

Seen as a challenge to globalization and the strains that it brings upon both on the infrastructure and the people, the designs make it comfortable for everyone who uses it. It gives the pedestrians an unfettered freedom to use the walkways above, while the road traffic and subway lines are limited to under part of the platform. It is not bereft of art and culture and that is where the perfect blend comes in. Its outdoor abounds in art and sculptures and water fountains. Despite the fact that it is a jewel that crowns Paris yet the unfortunate part is that it is least visited by the tourists.

New York State Capitol Building

New York State Capitol Building was constructed between 1867 and 1899, with the construction beginning in 1869 and costed $25 million. It was inspired by Hôtel de Ville in Paris, France. It is located in the state capital of Albany on State Street in Capitol Park. The buildings exterior is made from white granite and the marble for the building was cut by the state prisoners at Sing Sing. The highest point is 220 feet (67 m) tall. The State Capitol building is among those ten U.S. state capitols which does not have a domed roof. Underground tunnels are built here which connect Empire State Plaza and Alfred E. Smith Building. This building was desinged by three teams of architects; Thomas Fuller, Leopold Eidlitz and Henry Honson Richardsona and Isaac G. Perry. During construction, this project ran out of money many times and took money from other accounts to keep the working going. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1979.
