If you have a smart phone, there is a free application called My Fitness Pal, which is a great tool to use for this program.

Approaching Normal weight Range:

An indication that you are achieving your normal weight range will be the appearance of hunger. HCG only targets excess fat stores and demonstrates why you should consume 800-1000 calories for the rest of the treatment period until ideal weight loss achieved.

Extra Information
The thyroid is not the answer
The thyroid plays no role in releasing the fat that causes us to be overweight and obese. Many patients diagnosed and treated for an underactive thyroid are disappointed to find that their weight does not drop even when the blood levels of thyroid hormones return to normal with medical treatment. However weight loss programs are more effective if thyroid function is restored. That’s why it is imperative your doctor conducts a full hormone evaluation initially.
Fibre

Fibre assists with bowel regularity and bowels should open daily. If you suspect a problem with digestion this should be addressed as part of your overall treatment plan. Daily magnesium can assist.

Recommended fibres:

Psyllium husk, Acacia Fibre and Miracle Noodles.

Slim Pasta are a 100% fibre product and they are nearly calorie free. You can use them at any time throughout the program. or

http://www.miraclenoodlesaustralia.com

http://www.kelpnoodles.com

Bad breath can also be a result of losing rapid weight loss. We recommend buying sugar free sweets to suck on to minimize bad breath & help with cravings. Also chewing on fresh parsley is a natural way.

Medications & Oral Contraceptive Pill (OCP) and HCG

Continuing on the oral contraceptive pill is recommended and all medications your doctor has prescribed for you. Cease all supplements unless suggested to continue by our weight loss practitioner. Diabetics should be monitored carefully as extreme weight loss will require medication dose reductions or changes.

Additional important points to know:

Anything not listed is NOT ALLOWED and MUST not be included.

Many patients want to know why eggs are not included. Unfortunately the yolk of the egg contains a large amount of fat and is therefore not allowed. The VLCD relies on oil & cholesterol free to optimise fat mobilization and best results.
Skin Care, Make-up and Sunscreen

It is advised to not wear oil based make-up, body oils or chemicals, (sprays, perfumes etc.), as the oil will be absorbed by your skin, adding to your calorie count. Avoid massage as the body is undergoing detox and this may increase the burden on the liver.

We are able to recommend a few skin care products that will not hinder your success program:
Emit skin care range

Aqueous cream

Nude by Nature Mineral Cover (mineral foundation) & Thin Lizzy– available at Terry White Windsor

Oil free cleansers
Lemon Water

Start each day with a glass of lukewarm water and the juice of ½ to 1 lemon. This practice encourages alkalinity and is a good companion for weight loss. (Your teeth may become sensitive please use Sensydyne toothpaste or rinse)

Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps to promte your immune system we encourage you to have a measurement of your Vitamin D. (reference 5)

It is recommended to take 1000 to 5000 IU a day or a 15000-35,000IU capsule, compounded and taken only once per week. Vitamin D drops and capsules are also available to purchase thorough Terry White Chemists Windsor.

Exercise and HCG
During Phase 2 it is recommended to limit exercise to gentle activities

  • Walking (20 minutes daily)

  • Yoga

  • Stretch classes

  • Pilates

  • Tai Chi

Strenuous exercise is NOT OK, as exercise increases hunger and the stress hormone cortisol in combination with calorie restriction; cortisol could cause the body to conserve body fat.

Please discuss your exercise regime with your Practitioner.
After the weight loss, you will have more energy and you will feel the effects of a healthier weight as you pick up your exercise regime. Your practitioner will provide some helpful hints on moving more for health
Gaining weight in reset phase: The Protein /Steak Day during Reset Phase.
If you gain more than 1kg in a day during the Reset phase, you must skip breakfast and lunch, drink lots of fluid, and have a large steak (200g) after 4pm and an apple or raw tomato for dinner. If hunger is too much you can have the steak at lunchtime. It is important that the meal skipping is done on the day of weight gain and not postponed until the following day. The following day consume increased amounts of water & teas.
What if my weight plateaus?
You will at some stage during the program experience a weight loss plateau, this is to be expected. This generally occurs in week 2 of the program so please attend your appointment to let us help you stay motivated.
An “Apple Day” protocol may be trialled in the event of a plateau (in Phase 2 – Fat Burn only). In an “Apple Day”, you must consume up to 6 apples in a 24-hour period and only consume enough water to quench your thirst. NO OTHER FOOD IS TO BE EATEN ON AN APPLE DAY! You can then return back to the regular foods and quantities allowed in the Fat Burn Phase.

According to Dr Simeon this is more a psychological tool rather than a physiological process. Please discuss this with your weight loss Practitioner or contact the Clinic if you have any questions regarding the Apple Day.

Try having 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water if you do experience a plateau. Have a glass before each meal until you tart to lose weight again.

Frequently Asked Questions....
1.What if I am Still Hungry?

First of all, we are assuming that you did complete phase 1 (the loading phase) properly. Eating adequate, good quality, high fat foods for your 2-day loading phase is the best way to prepare and avoid future hunger.

If you are hungry – this is almost always because you are not eating enough vegetables – increase your vegetable intake (within your 500 calories).

Tips: If you are still hungry, try the following

  • Drink your 8 glasses of water per day and green tea, etc.

  • Make sure that you are getting plenty of fibre (e.g. Ground phylum sees, 1-2 tablespoons in water 6-8 times per day. These are available in tablet form, but if you do not like psyllium, take a natural and gentle fibre alternative).

  • Increase intake of Vitamin D – it helps with the hunger. Take 1500 IU daily

  • Take a Chromium Supplement recommended

Eat some of your food earlier in the day (e.g. cut up your apples and eat it throughout the day). You should consider the allowed food list as having a set number of pieces on a chessboard. You can move the pieces any way you want, as long as you do not add new pieces to the board!

  • Eat Miracle Noodles – made from a pure fibre called Konjac with almost NO calories!

  • Insulin resistance will also increase hunger in some people – the insulin levels circulating in your blood can also make you hungry. There are supplements like chromium to help control this – please discuss this with one of our pharmacists.

2. How much weight will be lost?

About ½ kilo a day during the first 2 weeks following this, the weight loss will slow. If a total weight reduction of 6 to 7 kg is required then the 4 weeks program will suffice, greater than this will require up to 6 weeks with guidance from our weight loss practitioners.

3. Taking additional supplements?

Through Phase 2, your body will be re-using some vitamins and minerals previously stored in your fat. Vitamins containing hidden sugars (lactose fillers) may interfere with weight loss. You may restart most supplements during phase 3 (Reset) of the Program. Fish Oils should not be taken while on this program until the end of Phase 3. We recommend taking Tresos B & Magnesium (400mg daily) as additional supplements.

4. Overindulged? What do I do now? Let's fix it!

If you cheat and go off the Program for a day or even just for one meal, there will be a setback on your weight loss by about 3 days and you may experience an increase in hunger, although it will not undo the progress that you have already made. Recommence your 500-calorie program and continue with the sublingual drops. Your weight loss will be back on track.

5. Exercise:

Avoid vigorous exercise to counterbalance the cheating – this will not help you to lose the extra weight but will just increase your appetite and put unneeded stress on your body.

6. Foods not allowed:

Pasta Cereal’s

Bread Cashews, peanuts

Rice Chips, popcorn

Potatoes Honey, syrups

Cakes, pies, cookies BBQ & tomato sauce

7. Re challenging the program:

Yes you can re do the HCG diet program but in not less than 6 weeks time. Re-programming for a third time you would wait 8 weeks after completion of the second time.

Targeting Your Ideal Healthy Weight Range:

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. Using the following formula by entering you weight and height to calculate your BMI:
